Grace looked at Heinz who was worried about her, and immediately came back to her senses. She squeezed out a comforting smile and gave him a look to tell him that she was fine.
On the other hand, Heinz's heart ached for her. However, he didn't want to embarrass her by comforting her in front of others.
Just then, Charles said again, "Zachary, you're pushing me into a corner."
"Uncle Charles, it's not me who's pushing you into a corner. It's your own lack of skill," Zachary stated. "If you had listened to me and stopped running any more businesses, perhaps you would still have some money left for retirement. Otherwise, your family business will be ruined and you will have nothing left."
Charles's face paled and then immediately flushed red in embarrassment. "Y-you're humiliating me!"
"I'm just telling the truth," Zachary replied. "You don't have the skills to do business."
Charles felt even more awkward. He looked at Zachary with shame and anger, and then turned to Nerissa.
"Nerissa, this is the great son you've raised. Not only does he refuse to help me, he even humiliates me. No matter what, I'm still his elder!"
Nerissa pursed her lips and looked at Charles' dark expression. She said, "Charles, it's not wrong of him to tell you what your mistakes are. Philip had also said that you are not suitable for business."
"Don't involve Philip in this. Do you think that I will believe your words just because Philip said that?" Charles grew even more furious.
Zachary maintained his calm expression. "Uncle Charles, I've said what I have to say. It's up to you whether you want to accept it. Please go back."
"Well then, you can't bury your Grandma's ashes with the Lowe family's ancestors!" Charles declared with rage before he turned around and walked out. When he reached the door, he said in a low voice, "And forget about retrieving your father's ashes. Even if I can't run a business, I can still fight with my life."
This was a threat.
Grace looked worriedly at Zachary.
Zachary simply responded, "Fight with your life? If you have the ability to do so, go ahead."
Charles was rendered speechless instantly.
He was so angry that he turned his head and stared at Nerissa with his eyes filled with anger.
He finally left.
Nerissa looked at her son with concern and said, "Zachary, Charles has the power to hurt us. After letting him threaten us like this, are you prepared to deal with it?"
"Mom, if we don't push him into a corner, we will never see what he can do," Zachary replied. "He threatened us because he is unkind. It would have happened sooner or later. It's unavoidable."
Nerissa sighed worriedly and said, "You're right, it's unavoidable. I'm not afraid, I'm just worried that you aren't prepared to handle it."
Grace's heart skipped a beat as she looked at Nerissa anxiously.
Zachary said, "Mom, if you don't put your foot down, you'll never be able to get to the root of the problem."
"But I'm worried that something bad will happen to you. Your father passed away so early because of them. I can't let anything happen to you too." How could Nerissa not worry, when Zachary was her only son?
"Zachary, it makes sense that Aunt Nerissa is worried about you," Grace said. "Should we think about this a bit more and discuss it later?"
Zachary took a look at Grace and smiled. With a determined look on his face, he said, "Grace, before they came over, Grandpa called me and told me that they were coming."
"He called you on the phone?" Grace was surprised and suddenly understood what he meant. "Was he warning you?"
Zachary nodded and said, "Yes. Grandpa knows what they're up to."
"Yes," the butler confirmed.
Nerissa was frightened and looked at her son as if she was walking on a thin sheet of ice. "Zachary!"
"Mom, nothing's going to happen even if I go alone," Zachary reassured.
"I'll go with you." Heinz tried to comfort Nerissa. "Aunt Nerissa, I'll take people with me. Don't you worry."
"You all think too much." Zachary smiled and said, "I am prepared. Don't worry."
"I'll go with you," Heinz insisted. "Otherwise, Aunt Nerissa will be worried."
"Yes, you should let Heinz go with you. We have to be well-prepared," Nerissa agreed.
"That's settled then." Heinz had already stood up. He looked at Zachary and said, "Let's go."
Zachary eventually nodded.
Then, they left.
After Grace and Nerissa sent them out, they came to the doorway. Nerissa was very concerned as she said, "I don't know what Charles and his siblings will try to do, considering their bad temper. Today, they have been kicked out twice by Zachary. I fear that the rage in their heart is burning bright."
"Aunt Nerissa, you've suffered a lot the past few years." Grace looked at Nerissa and could not help but tear up.
Nerissa looked at her teary eyes and felt the same. She patted her hand and said, "There is no need to feel sorry. I chose my own fate, so there is nothing to complain about. Your uncle accepted his fate, and so do I."
Her words made Grace feel bitter.
