Grace was stunned. Then, she looked at Heinz subconsciously and said, "Have you ever thought that maybe, women need more understanding and graciousness from men? All women want a pure love with no hidden intentions."

Heinz frowned. "I love you but you don't love me.

Grace blushed immediately. She exclaimed angrily, "I'm talking about Alice and Jensen but you're talking about us again."

Heinz laughed. "That's because women don't understand us men too. When it's just a simple matter, whether there's a third party or not, why do you have to involve such useless things?

"In my opinion, it's just a call to ask Jensen how he's doing. Even if they are not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore, they were in love before. It would be like a kind of respect for their past relationship, rather than remaining silent when it was known to everyone."

The two people were quarreling heatedly by the door. Alice opened the door, which was slightly ajar, thus overhearing the conversation between Grace and Heinz.

She stood by the door, looking at Heinz and Grace. "Heinz, Grace, stop quarreling. I'll call Jensen to ask how he's doing. It's my obligation as his friend, too."

Grace and Heinz looked at Alice simultaneously.

Alice mustered up her courage and met their gaze.

Heinz smiled. "Just call him. Even if you guys are just friends, it's only right for you to call and check up on him."

Alice replied, "Well, I'm going now." She returned to the room again.

This time, she picked up the phone. After hesitating for a while, she mustered up the courage to dial that number.

The other side answered quickly. "Hello? Alice?"

Jensen's tone was full of disbelief. "You, you called me?"

Alice immediately explained, "Don't get me wrong, I called because I heard from my brother- in- law that your mother has been hospitalized."

Jensen's mood, which had been slightly uplifted before, suddenly sank to the bottom of the abyss.

After a short pause, his lips twitched into a self-deprecating smile as he said, "Yes, she's hospitalized."

Alice replied, "You said before that you had something to do at work." Alice also felt embarrassed. After all, she was the one who proposed to break up and then she called him. How awkward. She added, "I actually thought that something was up at your workplace."

Jensen said, "It's all the same. After all, I still have to take my leave."

The result was the same; he eventually had to leave anyway.

Suddenly, the atmosphere became silent.

Jensen noticed that Alice was no longer talking, which bewildered him, leaving him with no clue.

Alice still didn't know what was wrong with Jensen's mother. She asked again, "May I ask, what's the matter with her?"

Jensen spoke again, calling her name, "Alice!"

Alice's heart trembled and she answered,

"Yes?"

Jensen responded further, "If there is nothing else you have to say, then I'll hang up." He hoped to hear her words, but she did not say anything.

Alice said embarrassedly, "Well, take care of yourself. I hope your mother recovers soon."

Before Jensen could say anything more, Alice quickly hung up.

Holding the phone, she breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a sense of loss for a while.

As Jensen put down the phone, he also felt very depressed.

Grace and Heinz returned to their room.

"You asked Alice to call Jensen. Did you consider that Alice might not be very willing to do so?"

Grace then took a good look at Zachary.

Zachary was expressionless. He looked very calm, as if he had a well-thought-out plan.

Heinz asked, "Did it get captured by any surveillance footage?"

Heinz said bluntly, "It's fake. Who on earth was it? Did you see it clearly?"

Lester reported truthfully, "Mr. Lowe came out of the hospital last night and went to the detention center. After chatting with a young lady on duty for half an hour, he went back to the hospital."

Upon hearing that, Grace and Alice took a deep breath in the backseat.

"Was it arranged by my cousin?" Alice looked at Lester in shock. "Was it, Lester?"

Lester smiled and said, "I don't know. I'm only telling the truth."

Alice immediately shouted at Heinz. "Heinz, look at your subordinate. He's evil. He doesn't want to admit it even though it's written all over his face."
