She wanted to beat Heinz up so badly. How could he actually coax their children to say such words now? This man really didn't change.

Ernest broke out into a smile. "Mommy, if you miss Daddy, then talk to him."

After saying that, Ernest passed the phone to Heinz and urged, "Daddy, Mommy said she missed you. Talk to her."

In that instance, Heinz was so caught by surprise that he felt awkward. He was so embarrassed that his face flushed all the way from his ears to his neck.

True enough, no matter how smart a child seemed, he knew he shouldn't have trusted Ernest. Just like that, he turned the entire situation against him. He had given specific instructions to Ernest, yet they were brushed off just like that.

Gripping the cellphone in his hand, Heinz lifted it to his ear. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Little Gary staring right at him.

His bright, gleaming eyes were burning a hole right through him.

As a result, Heinz's face turned even redder.

With the phone in his hand, he greeted shyly, "Grace?"

Hearing his voice, Grace also felt awkward.

She grunted in reply.

For a moment, both of them were silent.

Suddenly, Grace broke the silence. "It's getting late. Go to bed soon."

Heinz was stunned; was she going to let him go that easily?

His eyes widened in surprise. "Grace, let's talk about things when I return to my room. Let me put the kids to bed first."

"No," said Grace. "I'm going to bed too. Just pass the phone to the kids. I want to talk to them."

"Okay."

Heinz was very disappointed.

He gripped the phone tightly in his hand.

"Mommy won't talk to you?" Little Gary asked him.

Heinz didn't say a word, and he just handed the phone to Little Gary.

Little Gary smiled and put the phone beside his ear. "Mommy, it's me, Little Gary."

"What's going on?" Grace asked cautiously,

"Why aren't you asleep at this hour?"

"I'm worried about the both of you," Little Gary answered. "Mommy, where have you gone for work? Why didn't you tell us about it? You left in such a hurry."

Grace was taken aback by his fleet of questions. He had always been so straightforward and forced her into a corner, leaving her nowhere to hide.

She hesitated for a moment and then replied, "Hmm, I'm sorry. It was a last-minute thing."

"It truly is." Little Gary didn't shy away from showing his anger. This made Grace feel a little helpless and awkward.

Having no choice, she added, "I'm sorry, dear. I don't know what else to say. I know I can't hide anything from you. Can you give me a few days?"

"Alright." Little Gary sighed, "It's not that I don't understand. It's just that the two of you have never cared about how Ernest and I feel, and always make decisions on your own. I really don't wish for this to happen again."

"I know," Grace said apologetically.

"Mommy, you don't." Little Gary put her on the spot. "You don't understand how insecure Ernest feels, and he's asked me about you countless times today."

Ernest nodded with his big, sparkling eyes. "Yes, Mommy, I've asked Little Gary several times about you, but I think I've annoyed him. I was afraid that you would disappear and I don't want you to do that anymore."

This was the truth.

As Ernest spoke, there was the sound of him choking back tears.

It was indeed very heart-wrenching.

Of course, Grace also felt distressed by this.

She tightened her grip on her phone as her heart ached.

Beside them, Heinz also pursed his lips and started blaming himself.

He didn't want to show too much of his emotions, so he turned around and left for his room.

"Mommy, Heinz is gone. Now can you tell me why you did this?"

"Right now?"

"Yes."

"Alright, sir."

Heinz quickly changed his outfit. He packed a few things and prepared to leave.

Not long later, Heinz arrived at the airport.

Alex had secured him an overnight flight ticket to Julesburg.

When he arrived, it was 11:30 p.m.

Heinz headed straight for the Painter Village Resort.

Surprisingly, he didn't interrogate Grace immediately. On the contrary, he took the room next to hers and settled into bed.

Grace had intended to go to bed early, but she was finding it hard to fall asleep.

For some odd reason, the more tired she felt, the harder it was for her to sleep.

The thought of it annoyed her tremendously.

It wasn't until 1:30 a.m. that she finally dozed off.

At 5 in the morning, she was suddenly jolted out of bed.

There was no way she could go back to sleep. Eye bags hung under her eyes. Since she couldn't sleep, she decided to get up and go out for some exercise.

Before she knew it, it was already 6:30 a.m.

When she arrived back at her room, the door of the room next to hers just opened.

Heinz stood at the door. He sized Grace up and down, then uttered, "You're back?"

Grace was so shocked to see him and she turned pale as if she had seen a ghost.

For a long time, she stood there, staring at him in a daze. After a few minutes, she finally recovered and replied, "What are you doing here?"
