Timothy didn't say anything, perhaps because he didn't want to, or maybe he couldn't answer.

Candace looked at Grace again, then frowned and said coldly, "Were you the one who called him here? What on earth are you trying to do?"

In Candace's opinion, Grace only wanted to call Timothy over for a face-to-face confrontation and embarrass her.

She didn't like this, so she was incredibly furious and her tone was even sharper.

"Grace, did you get Timothy here to embarrass me?"

"I wasn't the one who called him here," Grace replied calmly. "I'm here to see you."

"Not you?" Candace didn't seem to believe it. She frowned and looked at Timothy, asking, "Who did?"

"I called Mr. Yarbrough," Heinz uttered in a deep voice.

Candace frowned deeper and stared at Heinz. "What do you want to do this time? Why do you get involved in everything? What part of this is your business? Why are you so nosy?"

"How can you call me nosy when I'm involved too?" Heinz retorted bluntly, "Now that we're all here, tell me, who is the outsider?"

Candace was left speechless by the question.

Nobody here was an outsider.

Her brows furrowed even more as she spoke unhappily, "Then speak. What are you all here together for?"

When Grace saw this situation, she understood that Candace did not want to see her. In fact, the person she wanted to see was Timothy.

Heinz had known this for a long time, thus he had called Timothy over. The reason why Heinz was there as well was that he was worried.

"She wants to see you, Mr. Yarbrough," Grace said cleverly. "She doesn't want to see us at all, so Heinz and I will be going out first."

Timothy was shocked. He looked at Grace and then at Heinz. After a few moments, he understood what they meant. Apparently, they were here either to make Lawrence give up or completely lose his mind.

People would only speak carelessly after losing their mind. This was Heinz's idea.

Timothy naturally understood their intention.

Hence, he nodded at them as a sign of understanding.

Heinz then promptly left with Grace.

Only Candace and Timothy were in the room.

With a creaking sound, the door was closed.

Candace frowned as if she was suspecting something. She asked Timothy, "You must have something going on. Otherwise, it's not like you to come so frequently."

Timothy's face was emotionless. He had just seen Candace's attitude toward Grace and the disappointment in the latter's eyes.

He felt sorry for Grace who had not lived a good life these past few years. This woman had not been good to her child at all.

However, Timothy had never expected that her attitude would be this horrible.

He couldn't help glaring at Candace.

"Oh, so you're fair and good to her?" Candace scoffed. "You sure know how to spout nonsense."

"You should cherish the moments you have with her. You don't have much time left," Timothy earnestly advised. "Although I don't know your thoughts, I know that you don't mean to treat her so coldly."

"What the hell would you know?" Candace turned her face away as a crack of her facade showed in her eyes.

Timothy frowned and said, "Candace, it's been a lifetime. You've been tough for a lifetime. Can't you let it go just for once?"

"Timothy, you cowardly man. If it weren't for you, would I have ended up like this?" Candace shouted indifferently, "How dare you say this to me? You are disgusting!"

"I admit that a lot of this is my responsibility. I've really done you wrong in the first place." Timothy sighed regretfully before continuing, "You don't have much time left. Why are you so cruel to your child in your last moments?"

"You've done her wrong the past few years, so why don't you make up for it in your last moments? You clearly know that Grace's very fragile. She doesn't need material possessions from you, but just a little comfort will do. Being a source of motivation and validation for her is also a form of your success as a mother."

He added, "But what did you do instead? You keep sticking a knife into her heart. She's already bleeding yet you want to cause her more pain. Have you ever regarded her as your daughter?"

"Timothy, shut up. Don't speak so high and mighty in front of me," Candace spoke with an icy tone that was stubbornly cold.

Timothy replied, "I know you won't listen to me now, and I won't try to persuade you any further. It's all the same to you anyway."

"If you knew that, why bother trying to persuade me?" Candace sneered mockingly and said, "How useless."

"Fine. I'll tell you why I'm here then," Timothy began to speak seriously. "Lawrence has been looking for you and keeps pestering Grace and Heinz, insisting to meet you. Do you want to meet him?"

Hearing that Lawrence was looking for her, Candace's gaze immediately became solemn. She shook her head and said, "No. There's no need for us to meet again!"
