Brett's vision blurred and he wondered if Izabella felt the same way he did now when he forced her to divorce during those four years.

What's even funnier is that during those four years and now, he had an inexplicable illusion in his heart - he felt that Izabella would never leave him and no matter how big of a mistake he made, he could still win her back.

He didn't know where this self-righteous attitude came from, but it was just too ridiculous.

"This marriage should have ended a long time ago."

Brett didn't say anything and silently organized the documents before handing them to Mr. Dixon.

Mr. Dixon checked the signatures, and once everything was in order, he put the files away for safekeeping.

He didn't ask much about the rest of the matter, after all, it was their private business, and he had seen countless divorce cases where people changed their minds about divorcing at the last minute.

But now that the paperwork was signed, they probably wouldn't change their minds.

After Mr. Dixon left, Brett unlocked Izabella's legs. She felt much more relaxed when the restraints were gone.

Izabella rubbed her legs, crawled into bed, and prepared to sleep. This could be her last night of sleep.

Brett tossed his clothes on the floor, took a quick shower, and got into bed. He hugged Izabella tightly under the covers, as if the moment he relaxed his grip, the person in his arms would disappear.

Izabella could hardly breathe because of his tight embrace, and she mocked, "don't tell me you are turned on right now."

Brett pressed Izabella to his chest. He could see her face, as well as her pale lips, just by lowering his head.

He always believed that Izabella's presence in his life was insignificant. He was also so confident that she would never mess with his feelings.

He used a kite metaphor for their relationship. Everything about her was under his control. As long as he held onto the string tightly, no matter how far she flew away, he could pull her back. But now, the string had snapped.

He chose Kaley and had to sacrifice Izabella. He couldn't think about it any longer, or else he might not be able to let her go.

It was disgusting how much Brett loved Kaley, Izabella sneered in her heart.

"Why would you even like Kaley?"

Brett hesitated for a moment before saying, "Six years ago, she risked her life to save mine." He had never mentioned this story to anyone before.

"Six years ago?"

Brett slowly recounted what happened six years ago. Although he seemed to be capable of doing anything, he had a fatal weakness - he was afraid of water and couldn't swim.

One night, six years ago, he accidentally fell into the water and passed out. Kaley saved him.

As Izabella listened to the story of Brett being saved by Kaley six years ago, she was stunned, as if she had just realized something.
