Liam never thought that the always busy Brett would actually knit scarves in his free time.

And, why did the scarf in his hand look so familiar?

Brett was a quick learner in everything, but he was clumsy when it came to knitting scarves. He had watched the tutorial many times, but still couldn't get it. The scarf he made was uneven and the lines were twisted.

Hearing the noise at the door, Brett frowned and looked over without putting down the needle and thread in his hand. He calmly looked at Liam, who was standing outside.

Liam felt a chill from his gaze and hesitated before calling out, "President Windham."

Brett simply hummed in response and finally put down the needle and thread.

The entire scene felt uncomfortable, and Liam was embarrassed. If he didn't have something to tell Brett, he would have left already.

Liam walked in with a folder, "President Windham, here is the company's report for this month, please take a look."

Brett took a sip of cold water, "Just put it on the table."

After putting the folder on the table, Liam's gaze turned to Brett again, still hesitating.

"Is there anything else?"

"President Windham, Ryker Dempsey has disappeared."

Brett's eyes widened, "Disappeared?"

"Yes," Liam said. "The orphanage director has reported the case and they have been looking for him for over a month, but he's still missing. Ryker has always been a little slow, so... the situation doesn't look good. The police have decided to treat the case as a death."

After investigating Ryker's identity, Liam hadn't paid much attention to him. In addition, recent events kept them busy, and Izabella had become a vegetable, with Brett watching over her day and night. Liam had been dealing with most of the work piled up.

After leaving the hospital, Brett got up and stretched his neck. Outside the hospital were many ginkgo trees, which were beautiful in every season.

The leaves were beautiful in spring, summer, and autumn, but in winter, the charm was in the branches and trunks covered with a thin layer of snow.

Brett admitted that he was a selfish person. When he heard that Ryker disappeared, he was surprised but had no extra feelings, not even a bit of concern. He even thought it was better for Ryker to disappear.

"Izabella, Ryker's gone for good. All that's left at the edge of the mountain is a bloody, tattered piece of clothing. He fell into the deep ocean, and his body wasn't even intact."
