Brett squinted his sharp eyes at Nathaniel, making his already cold and aloof aura even more intense.

"You're giving up the Windham family for a woman?" Patrick frowned.

Time had done nothing but age him. The air of superiority he exuded made everyone else in the room feel uneasy.

Out of everyone in the Windham family, Brett was the one he valued as the heir most.

Brett's way of handling things had the style of his youth and even more so. In recent years, he said he didn't care about Brett and left him to fend for himself, but he had never stopped investigating him behind his back.

Watching him step by step become the number one businessman in R City, he knew he was married and annexed the Salotti Group.

He became more and more satisfied with this grandson, and he could almost imagine the glory that the Windham family would enjoy under Brett's leadership.

But now, Brett has been held back by a woman, and that woman is Izabella, his ex-wife, from the Salotti family he once crashed.

Brett's face was still cold and hard as he focused on Patrick.

"You need to know that I'm not giving up my position as heir to the Windham family because of her." Brett stood up straight, calm and unruffled, with an air of superiority, as if he didn't care about anything.

"You know better than anyone how my parents died. I won't let that happen to me. I can build a Windham family on my own."

Proud as Brett was, he was telling the truth. He never took the Windham family seriously. He became the richest man in R City in just seven years and quickly monopolized J City. Eventually, Brett would be the first person that comes to mind when people mention the Windham family.

Looking at Patrick's slightly stiff face, Brett said coldly, "Go ahead and pick Nathaniel as your heir, but you might want to change his last name to Windham first, or else this might not be the Windham family anymore."

Whatever he had sent couldn't be anything good. Brett could've just ignored it, but for some reason, he still clicked on the message.

There was a video and a sentence.

"Enjoy it, you’re welcome."

Just a few words paired with that video, and Brett instantly guessed what it was. His fingers began to tremble, his breaths grew rapid like he was trying his best to hold back something. In the end, he still opened the video.

In the video, Izabella was just like in that photo, with her limbs tied to wooden planks.

As the video played, his pupils constricted. By the time he finished watching the whole video, his hands were shaking uncontrollably.

Initially, when he had brought Izabella from that place to the hospital, on that very night, he had received three critical condition notices. The doctor who treated her had also clearly told him how her injuries were inflicted.
