This scene feels so familiar, just like when Kaley had a car accident a few years ago and Izabella offered to donate blood, she said something similar.

"You really have to bring up your demands at a time like this?" Brett's expression suddenly turned cold and rigid.

Kaley looked into his icy gaze, swallowing unconsciously, feeling tired of this cold treatment. She no longer cared about what Brett thought of her; all she wanted was the position of Ms. Windham's.

"If Izabella could do it back then, why can't I? Brett, it's up to you now. Either get engaged to me and I save Izabella, or watch her die from blood loss."

Brett stared at her, "Are you threatening me?" His expression was so cold that it gave people the shivers.

Kaley pretended to be calm, "Brett, this isn't a threat. I just want a better life for myself."

"Why do I have to get engaged to you if you want a better life? You know very well..." Brett suddenly stopped, his face twisted in pain.

"Know that you love Izabella?" She laughed at herself, answering for Brett.

Brett's silence was as good as admitting it, and his serious look made her jealous. This was the first time Brett admitted to her that he loved Izabella.

Kaley knew that she couldn't push Brett too hard, or else it would backfire. She had grown up with Brett and no one knew him better than her.

Since he lacked love from an early age, it was hard for him to have compassion. If she really pushed him too far, she wouldn't even know how she'd die.

Having the same blood type as Izabella was her only leverage, and she had to make good use of it.

"Don't forget, Brett, if it wasn't for her meddling, we would have been married a long time ago. Is it wrong for me to take back what belongs to me?" "What do you mean massive internal bleeding and now surgery? Wasn't it supposed to be a painless abortion? Why the surgery now?" Too many questions were swirling in Brett's mind.

"Initially, Ms. Salotti gave birth to a stillborn, and the blood wouldn't stop. We tried to stop the bleeding, but it couldn’t be controlled. There were clotting abnormalities, and the uterus had detached, so it had to be removed immediately." The nurse looked tense and scared, recalling everything from inside the operating room.

Brett stumbled and leaned against the wall to stabilize himself, "How could this happen?"

Brett shook his head in disbelief, muttering to himself. His ears were buzzing, and he couldn't hear anything.
