Izabella spoke in a calm tone, but her words hit Brett like a sudden thunderstorm on a clear day. Silence fell on Brett's end of the line immediately.

"Brett, I never took you for an honest man. Answering my questions so candidly, admitting to harboring illicit goods. That's illegal, you know." Izabella chuckled. "Thanks for giving me so much information. This recording will make great evidence in court. Setting people up, do you think you could end up like Nathaniel?"

She continued with a smile in her voice, "So, are you going to turn yourself in, or should I release this recording and let everyone see who President Windham of the Windham Group really is? I know you're used to getting your way, but if you push me too far, I won't mind cutting you down to size."

“You’re scheming against me?" Brett questioned in disbelief.

Izabella's smile widened, revealing her white teeth. "You’re a good teacher."

With that, Izabella hung up the call. She looked at her phone with a smile of victory. After listening to the recording once more and making sure it was correct, she saved multiple copies for backup.

Brett was wealthy. Wealth can make the world go round, but it can't blind everyone.

Izabella put her phone down, feeling nauseated by Brett's words. She had called to tell him about her marriage just to upset him. Brett was always on guard. But once he lost control of his emotions, he could become unpredictable.
