Clara Calloway’s car pulled up at the company entrance and she hopped out, striding toward the building 

Just before she entered, a familiar voice echoed from behind 

“Clara“” 

Emmett Melendez, standing beside her, also turned to look… 

The voice belonged to Taylor Atwood. 

What on earth was he doing here? 

Upon seeing Taylor, Clara’s first instinct was to book it! 

Taylor made to chase after her but was stopped by Emmett 

“Mr Atwood, this is the Melendez company, not a place you can walk into” 

“I need to see Clara“” 

“Who you want to see is none of my business, but if you don’t work for Melendez, you can’t come in.” 

Taylor frowned at him, “Emmett, what are you playing at? All I want to do is explain things to Clara. Why are you stopping me?” 

1 don’t care about your personal affairs, but you can’t come in.” 

With that, Emmett turned and went into the building. 

Taylor tried to follow but was stopped by Ricardo. 

“Mr Atwood, I suggest you stay out here.” 

“You–Taylor was angry, “Fine, fine! If you won’t let me in, then I’ll just wait for her out here!” 

He didn’t believe he couldn’t wait Clara out 

Clara sprinted to her office, only relaxing slightly when she saw no one was following her. 

Not long after, Emmett walked in 

“Why did you run?” 

“No, no reason” 

Emmett looked at her flustered face, “And you say you have nothing to do with Taylor?” 

“You bolt at the sight of him. Did you con him out of his money?” 

Clara gave an awkward laugh, “No, I just felt there was nothing to talk about with 

“You two used to date.” 

This wasn’t a question, but a statement. 

“No! Taylor’s way out of my league, how could I possibly…” 

“But you’re married to me now, aren’t you?” 

Clara was speechless. 

“Better figure things out with Taylor and let me know the deal. I can protect you now, but I can’t do that forever!” 

“Really, there’s nothing to say about him. We were just… friends back then.” 

“That’s it?” 

“That’s really it!” 

“But you used to have feelings for Taylor.” 

He wasn’t blind He could tell. 

Sure enough, Clara lowered her head. 

Her reaction didn’t sit well with Emmett! “Print out all the documents needed for today and bring them to the meeting room!” 

“Okay, got it!” 

“Also, relay tomorrow’s tasks personally to every department.” 

As Clara watched him leave, she was taken aback. 

With this much work, there was no way she was leaving the office today. 

Back in his office, Emmett was also feeling edgy today. 

He had a hunch that this Taylor would be a big headache in the future, for both his work and… Clara. 

Mr Melendez, Mr Atwood is still waiting for you outside. Ricardo knocked on the door to remind him. 

Emmett waved him off, “Let him be. If he wants to wait, let him wait.” 

“Understood!” 

After Ricardo left, Emmett looked at the files in his hands, but his mind was elsewhere. He couldn’t concentrate. 

He got up and walked to the door of Clara’s office. Watching her busy figure, he felt an unusual sense of calm…. 

What kind of charm did this woman possess that made her stand out so much? 

Over the years, many women had tried to curry favor with him, but only she… caught his attention! 

From the moment he first saw her, he felt that she was special, completely different from other women.
