About a month into summer, the areas to the south often experienced heavy torrential rain. 

In the days following Yvette’s discharge from the hospital, Claude made time to keep her company. 

Yvette suffered from the aftereffects of taking a copious amount of sleeping pills.

“Charity, huh?” Yvette scoffed internally. 

She thought back to when Shannon had arranged for her to marry Xavier. 

Back then, Shannon had kept emphasizing that only 

someone from the Snyder family was worthy of Xavier. She had even said that she would treat Yvette like her own daughter. 

At that moment, Yvette decided that enough was enough. She
