Mark only left Yvette after accompanying her to Xavier’s office. The door wasn’t closed, and she gently pushed it open. 

Xavier was in his chair as he focused on going through some documents. 

She had to admit that handsome–looking men like him looked even more dashing when they were focused on their work. She remembered how she had fallen for him because of his attractive face. 

Xavier knew she had arrived and looked up. “Come here.” 

She walked to him and asked, “Can I help you?” 

“From now on, you don’t have to work downstairs anymore. He put down the documents in his hands. and looked at her. “You’ll start working here as well.” 

She was confused. “Why?” 

“No reason. That’s just what the company has arranged.” He might as well have said that he had arranged it himself. 

Since they were under the same roof, she had to be cautious. “Sure.” 

Yvette thought it wasn’t a bad idea. That way, they would have more chances to see each other. She had thought about it earlier and figured that she most likely wouldn’t get pregnant after that one time. 

“I’ll go bring my laptop here now,” she said. 

Yet, before she had even left the office, someone had already brought her belongings into the room, including her laptop. They had even brought had desk there as well. 

Xavier walked to her side and looked at her belongings. “I’m curious. What have you been working on for the past few days?” 

In the past, Yvette had only been a housewife. Other than taking care of him, she had never worked a day before. 

She looked back at him and said, “Do you want to know? I can show it to you.” 

She knew that Xavier was still cautious around her. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have reigned in his desire and endured it the night before. 

As expected, he was interested. “Alright.” 

She went to her seat as he kept his deep eyes on her. She turned on her laptop and showed him the work she had done when she was bored. 

Xavier glanced at it and was surprised because there were a lot of partnership projects on her laptop. He wondered when she had learned to do all that. 

Yvette looked up and saw his well–defined side profile. She took a deep breath and slowly said, “You must’ve felt terrible last night, right?”

Xavier tensed up and lowered his gaze to meet her eyen. Then, he gulped. She adjusted her posture so that she was close to his lips. 

“To tell you the truth, I felt uncomfortable as well.” 

He tried to see through her. It didn’t feel like something she would usually say. 

He remembered how she used to blush brightly when she had only touched his hand a little after their 

marriage. 

Although she was pretending to be an expert at that moment, he could tell she was putting on an act immediately. 

He placed his hand on her shoulder, and she instinctively trembled a little. That kind of reaction couldn’t be faked. 

His unwavering gaze lit up a little. “If you feel uncomfortable, you should go to the hospital. I’m not a doctor, so I can’t cure you. 

Yvette was stunned. She wondered if he was pretending to be ignorant or if he really was that dumb. 

Seeing how things were going, she got closer to him and kissed him on the lips. “I was feeling uncomfortable because of this…” 

Yvette’s scent filled Xavier’s nose. He was a normal man, and there was no way he could resist in a situation like that. 

So, he kissed her back. However, he was still thinking straight because he could feel that she didn’t really want him. He wondered what she wanted. 

Yvette clumsily went along with the flow, and the atmosphere in the office became hot.
