Yvette went over to Kiki’s place bright and early. The pair had breakfast together before waiting for Daphne to come over and apologize. 

“Why do you think Daphne had a sudden change of heart, Yvvy?” Kiki was puzzled. 

Just the other day, Daphne had still been paying people to take down the articles online. Why had she suddenly wanted to apologize? How strange. 

Yvette had no clue either. 

Logically speaking, Xavier and Tristan wouldn’t just keep to themselves if Daphne was ever in trouble. They would have no problem with taking the articles down if they wanted to.

At 10:00 am, Daphne showed up with a lawyer in tow. Yvette retreated to the bedroom. 

Daphne was wearing a mask and sunglasses. After she entered the manor, she looked at Kiki, who was sitting on the couch. 

Kiki had some baby fat in her cheeks, and it made her look exceptionally young for her age. 

“Hello, Ms. Torres.” Daphne didn’t remove her shades. 

“Let’s skip the formalities, Ms. Reyes. Do apologize.” Kiki went straight to the point. She didn’t even ask Daphne to take a seat. 

Daphne was at a loss for words. However, at the thought of the articles online, she knew she had to apologize. “I’m sorry.” 

“I don’t think you’re being sincere about this. Forget it. Kiki tried to make it harder for her. 

Daphne was slightly annoyed, but her lawyer kept her in check. 

She took off her shades and her mask. Then, she tried again. “I’m sorry. I hope you’ll forgive me for my actions. I’m willing to accept any of your demands for compensation.” 

Since Daphne was usually obnoxious and arrogant, Kiki was extremely thrilled by her apology. 

“On top of the apology, my client has asked for a formal acknowledgement of your plagiarism to media outlets and to the public. Would you be willing to accept that?” 

Yvette had told Daphne her demands ages ago. They weren’t willing to let Daphne off the hook so easily. Daphne didn’t respond. Instead, she looked toward her lawyer. 

The lawyer walked forward and said, “Ms. Torres, would you be willing to do Ms, Reyes a favor? Could

“If you’re willing, I’ll pull some strings at my law firm, Regal Law Services. We can offer you any status or position you want in the least amount of time.” 

Kiki wasn’t surprised. No wonder Daphne had offered to apologize–they wanted to bribe her. 

She offered them a smile. “I’m afraid you’ve got the wrong idea. I don’t care for status like Ms. Reyes does. 

Then, she walked toward Daphne and mocked her. “Ms. Reyes, you have a knack for plagiarizing, and you’ve been running rampant overseas. On top of that, you came back to the country and decided to be a homewrecker. 

“Forget about statuses or titles; you should prepare yourself for court! Your career is over! I wasn’t 

planning on accepting your apology in the first place.” 

Daphne stared at her in shock. “What did you just say?” 

To add to her shock, the door to the bedroom flew open, and Yvette walked out. 

Did that mean Yvette had witnessed her groveling earlier? She immediately became furious. “Did you get your 1 friend to take revenge on me because you couldn’t win over Xav?” 

Yvette was speechless. Daphne managed to irritate her every time she spoke. She asked in return, “Did I ask you to plagiarize someone else’s work?” 

Upon hearing that rebuttal, Daphne didn’t feel like apologizing anymore. 

She glared at Yvette with sheer hatred. “Since you don’t want to do things the easy way, I’m afraid I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.”
