After chatting with Kiki, Yvette put away her phone and decided to leave the flowers and go to the music room to play the piano. 

After some time, she felt restless, so she left the music room and went outside. 

There, she spotted Luther, whom she hadn’t seen in years. The elderly man was dressed in a tuxedo. With his distinguished white hair, he looked sharp as he instructed the workers. 

When Luther noticed Yvette, he visibly paused before regaining his composure and walking toward her. 

“Ms. Snyder, have we disturbed you?” he asked politely 

But what followed cut deeper than any profanity–laden insult. “I thought you wouldn’t hear us, considering your disability. 

“Nevertheless, I must advise you. It’s ten in the morning. Other upper–class ladies wouldn’t be lounging 

around at home. 

“If you have nothing to do, I suggest you leave and stop disrupting the workers. What do you think, Ms. Snyder?” 

In the past, Yvette had thought that Luther genuinely wanted to teach her how to be a good wife to Xavier, and she had initially listened to every piece of “advice” he had given her. 

However, she had later overheard him and his daughter, Lynn Gresham, talking about her. 

“She’s a wild child raised in the countryside. She believes anything she hears.” 

It had made Yvette realize that Luther took pride in controlling her under the guise of guidance. 

After all, she was Xavier’s legal wife and officially married into the prestigious Lane family. It must have been such a joy for a household staff like him to enjoy the privilege of lecturing his employer. 

“Luther, I’m afraid you’re wrong. I’m not like those upper–class ladies you describe, and I can’t meet your standards,” Yvette replied firmly. 

She had originally planned to go to the company later, but now she had no intention of leaving. “I won’t leave here today. If you want me to go, you should call Xavier.” 

Luther couldn’t help but be surprised. After all, it was the first time Yvette had confronted him. 

Yvette didn’t wait for him to react before she returned to the music room to play the piano again. 

As long as the glass windows of the music room were closed, most of the outside noise could be 

blocked out. 

Luther glanced coldly in the direction of the music room and continued to instruct his men. 

Xavier had ordered them to replace flowers with ones that had less pollen, but there weren’t enough available yet. Hence, it was impossible for them to complete the task in a single day. 

Moreover, most of the newly transplanted flowers wouldn’t survive long and would need to be replaced frequently.

He hadn’t expected that a few flowers would keep her occupied. Finally, she hadn’t thought of running

When he suddenly laughed, the senior manager reporting to him couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine. 

He asked fearfully, “Mr. Lane? Did I do something wrong?” 

Xavier came back to his senses, wiped the smile off his face, and resumed his cold demeanor. “You can leave now.” 

The senior manager immediately breathed a sigh of relief. 

Glancing at the time, Xavier called Luther to ask how the flower replacement was going. 

Luther informed him that they had removed the flowers with more pollen and would gradually replace them with ones with less pollen. 

After hearing that, Xavier packed up and headed back. 

Just then, Tristan came over and asked, “Xav, how’s Yv–Deaf Yvvy doing?” He had come over today specifically to ask this. 

“She’s fine,” Xavier replied in just two words and walked past him. 

Tristan felt somewhat helpless. 

As much as he wanted to know what was going on with Yvette, he couldn’t investigate it. It would be bad if Xavier found out about it. 

Still, being clueless filled him with worry. 

In the end, he left the office with Xavier. He still had some things to do that day. 

He had already arranged for someone to find out about Zachary, who he thought was his illegitimate child. He had found out that the latter was studying at an international kindergarten.
