Xavier had seen Yvette’s medical records from four years ago. He knew that she had suffered from severe depression, and he had tried to understand the disorder before. 

Indeed, it could cause the deterioration of memory, but there was no evidence that the patient could forget an entire person! 

They had known each other for over a decade! 

When Xavier said nothing, Yvette asked, “Are you one of the people who’d hu me before? If you’re not, then why don’t I 

remember you?” 

Those words felt like a stab at Xavier. His voice was cold as he said, “You must be overthinking things, Ms. Snyder. We were just ships that passed through the night.” 

Xavier had thought it through now. Since Yvette wanted to pretend, he would let her. After all, he had never thought of them as husband and wife to begin with. 

Before Yvette left, Xavier had someone sign the partnership contract with her. When he returned to his office, he began to smoke cigarette after cigarette again. 

He kept thinking about Yvette’s words. “Are you one of the people who’d hurt me before? If you’re not, then why don’t I remember you?” 

He felt like there was a wad of cotton lodged in his chest. He felt suffocated and uncomfortable.

Xavier’s words left Mark dumbstruck once again. He knew better than anyone what “other forces” entailed. 

Besides using it to seize the position as head of the Lane family, Xavier had never used it before. 

Now, he was planning to use it because of Yvette? 

Mark didn’t dare ask the reason. He had no choice but to follow orders. “Yes, I’ll get in touch with the relevant parties right away.” 

After four years, most of the people at Lane Group’s headquarters didn’t know who Yvette was. Thus, her partnership negotiation didn’t attract much attention. 

On the way home, Yvette asked the driver to take her to the cemetery in the western suburbs.

He stood a distance away while keeping his gaze fixed on Yvette. After a long time, he still didn’t dare to tear his eyes 

away. 

Yvette’s eyes flickered slightly before returning to normal. Her heels clacked as she walked toward Tristan. 

Frozen to the spot, Tristan suddenly felt as though the
