His voice was deep and raspy. Only he was aware of how torturous it had been to restrain himself, But he couldn’t give in to his desires because he wanted to know what she was really up to. 

Yvette froze. Her eyes glistened as she asked, “Don’t you want to do it?” 

Xavier was certain she had ulterior motives and abruptly sang a different tune. “I think you’ve gotten the wrong idea. I was just attempting to help you regain your memories. Let’s stop here. It’s time to go to the banquet, after all.” 

Her expression darkened. Had he been toying with her while they kissed for the past six or seven minutes? However, she didn’t let it show as she withdrew her hand from his body. 

Xavier went to the dressing room to change his clothes before accompanying her to the banquet. 

Tristan and Archibald had also made an appearance at the birthday banquet. Like the other parents, Archibald wanted to use this opportunity to find a wife for Tristan. 

Tristan was forced to attend the banquet. After wishing ifford a happy birthday, his grandfather forced him to stay and had him meet at least 20 young ladies.

He wasn’t afraid of defying his grandfather, but the old man wasn’t in good health and had a heart condition. The doctor had warned him not to anger his grandfather, as it could easily lead to a heart 

attack. 

Archibald spotted Daphne, who was dressed to the nines. He made sure to remind his grandson,” Remember, Daphne’s off–limits!” 

He was a good judge of character: Years ago, he had someone look into Daphne and learn that she was an ungrateful and untrustworthy woman. Even now, she was nothing more than a slut who slept with countless men. 

“Don’t worry.” Ever since he learned that Yvette was the one who had saved him, Tristan had lost all interest in Daphne. 

Archibald was pleased that his grandson was no longer infatuated with that woman. 

The banquet was grand. Malcolm and Zachary were lost in the crowd. Zachery’s bright eyes dimmed as soon as he spotted Daphne. 

Malcolm looked in the direction Zachary was looking at and explained, “That’s Daphne Reyes, my Uncle Xav’s rumored girlfriend.” 

“Why is she the only one here? Where’s your uncle?” Zachary asked.
