Amelia paused. "So, you're only helping me to get the company up and running as soon as possible?"

"Yes." Gideon nodded.

His response left Amelia disappointed. Did he have no other feelings toward her? Was he only helping her for work even after their intimate moment last night?

She wanted to say something but was afraid she would upset him if she pressed further.

"You should rest. I have some things to attend to, so I'll be off now. Once you've recovered, let me know when you're ready to start registering the company. Text me if you need anything." Gideon checked his watch.

"Alright." Amelia nodded, watching him leave the hospital room. She felt an emptiness in her heart.

Hadn't he accepted her confession last night? Weren't they now something close to a couple? Or was it all just in her head?

Amelia felt increasingly uncertain about Gideon's feelings. Sometimes, she believed he liked her. But other times, it felt like they were worlds apart.

Amelia was too busy to dwell on this. The company's HR team quickly contacted her, processed her resignation, issued her salary and bonus, and even compensated her with an additional settlement.

"Mr. Everett is very busy and doesn't have time to come over. But he'll be there for the company's opening," Amelia explained, comforting both her son and herself. She missed Gideon too.

Eli frowned, a bit skeptical. Dora told him that Gideon took her to an amusement park last weekend, so he didn't seem too busy.
