Everly left Youngworth Miracle and walked back to Forever Clinic in the rain. Suddenly, someone covered her mouth from behind.

It happened so swiftly that before she could react, a sack was worn over her head. A sharp pain stung from her nape, and she fainted.

Half an hour later, someone poured cold water on her to wake her up. She found herself in a run-down house. Standing before was a group of fierce-looking men.

Her face lost its color as she shrunk in a corner, her eyes looking at them fearfully.

"Everly Pierce, do you know why we kidnapped you here?" The leading man, Samuel Palmer, grazed his thumb over a knife. One of his eyes was covered.

She gulped at the sight of the big knife before pleading, "Could you give me a few more days? I'll return you the money after selling off those herbs."

Actually, she borrowed from loan sharks to pay for the deposits.

"It's been three days past the agreed date! You know what happens when you can't pay us back, don't you?" Samuel threw the knife onto the cutting board on the table.

At the same time, a man grabbed her to pull over her right arm.

She screamed in fear. Her hand balled into a fist because she was afraid that they would chop her hand off.

Annoyed, the man slapped her face. "Shut up or pay us back, bitch!"

She fell onto the floor. Her cheek swelled, and the corner of her lips bled.

She covered her cheek and knelt while begging for her life, "Please! Please give me three more days! I'll pay you back after three days!"

"What if you can't?" Samuel threatened.

She quickly said, "I'm sure I can pay you back! I have the herbs Dr. Shadow is looking for. She's willing to pay 20 times higher than the market price. Once she receives the goods, I'll have the money to pay you back!"

He spat out the words, "If you still can't pay us back, you're dead meat!" He did hear of the announcement from Dr. Shadow in passing but not the details.

It was only then that she realized that they were the suppliers who came in the morning, not the loan sharks. Still, that didn't spare her from a mental breakdown.

Everly wasn't fit for business, but she knew that no one would buy those herbs from her after Hera had raised the market price so high.

If she couldn't sell them off, she would lose hundreds of millions of dollars. She wouldn't have the money to pay the suppliers! Before the suppliers could sue her, the loan sharks might be after her life first!

She shuddered at the thought of how the loan sharks had treated Catherine in the past.

Everly thought that she had the upper hand in the situation and yet, she was fooled by Hera. Everly had dug her own grave.

Now that she was penniless, she didn't give a fig about the world anymore. "I don't want your herbs anymore! Take them back!"

If the suppliers retrieved the herbs, they could sell them off again. At least, she wouldn't suffer from that big of a loss.

Unfortunately for her, they weren't buying it. "You don't want them anymore? Even if you don't want them, you should pay us!"
