Linda initially wanted to help Roman put the blame on Hera. It never crossed her mind that Hera would be able to turn the tables with just a few sentences.

Not only did Linda fail to aid Roman, but she also made others suspicious of her. Thus, she had to make Roman take the spotlight back from her.

"Roman, how could you chuck mud into Xavier's mouth?" Linda chided.

Roman was taken by surprise. "I-I was fooling around with him. I never thought we'd fall into the water."

"Oh really?" Hera let out a bark of laughter. "What a coincidence. I was fooling around with you too just now."

Linda and Roman had always thought that Xavier was an idiot, so they made life miserable for him. Despite that, Xavier never responded to their snide remarks and horrible treatment.

Hera couldn't help but admire him for his endurance. She pitied him too.

Had he been living with the Killians like this all these years?

Roman shuddered when he heard Hera's words. How was that considered "fooling around"? He almost died!

Linda seized the chance to say, "Fooling around? You call that fooling around? You were obviously trying to take the life of a descendant of our family!"

"Descendant?" Hera glanced at Roman coldly. "He's adopted. He isn't a descendant of the family. What about the drugs buried in his backyard? Doesn't that mean he tried to kill his siblings and that he's atrocious?"

It was an atrocious crime for someone to kill their siblings. Such a label would ruin Roman's life in the Killian family for good. He could even be arrested for that.

Roman started to fret. He tried to explain himself, "It wasn't me! I didn't do it! Those drugs aren't real!"

Hera narrowed her eyes at him upon hearing that. "How are you so sure that they're fake?"

"How do you know about that?" Aurora asked too.

Sensing that Aurora started doubting him, Roman became even more panicked.

"Mom, I don't know anything about it! I didn't bury the drugs! If it were me, I wouldn't have buried them in my backyard. I wouldn't expose myself like that!"

He gripped Aurora's hands pleadingly as he tried to persuade her, "You have to believe me, Mom! Someone wants to frame me!"

With a broken heart, Aurora pulled her hands out of Roman's grasp. "You did it, didn't you?"

"No! I didn't! It wasn't me!" Roman shook his head frantically as he reached for her hands once more, but she stepped backward and away from him with eyes full of suspicion.

Helpless, Roman turned to Linda for help. He grabbed her hands and pleaded, "Grandaunt Linda, help me! I really didn't do it!"

Back then, it was Linda who talked him into replacing the drugs. They were both accomplices. Surely, she would help him at such a critical time.
