Everly swallowed the pain and made her way back to the hut. She wanted to collect the fetuses on the ground, but then she saw two dogs standing by the entrance of the hut.

They were gobbling up the fetuses. Everly ran over to the dogs and chased them away, and they ran away with the fetuses in their mouths. The only thing that was left on the ground was a puddle of blood.

Bernard drove her to the university early in the morning. He gripped her hand reluctantly before she got out of the car.

"I have some business to attend to overseas. I'll be gone for a month or so," he told her. "But I'll settle them quickly and come back as soon as I'm done with them."

After getting set up by Bernard last time, the Second Elder was so furious that he purposely caused trouble for Astral Nova.

Bernard made a mental note to kick people who liked making trouble for him out of Astral Nova. This time, he would go to the palace in person and settle things once and for all.

Independence Day was just around the corner. She would have a few days of holiday, so Hera thought of going on a short vacation with Bernard.

Unfortunately for her, he had to go abroad to settle some business. She couldn't help but feel a tad disappointed. Even so, she didn't let it show.

An alarm bell started ringing in Bernard's mind after seeing how indifferent Hera seemed. How could she be so cold? Was she not reluctant to know that he was leaving?

She jabbed a finger in the direction of the hotel opposite the university, and Bernard did as he was told.

Hera felt reluctant knowing that they wouldn't be able to see each other for a month after he left.

A month wasn't long, and it wasn't like the two of them hadn't stopped seeing each other for some time back then. They could also video call each other when they feel like it.

But for some reason, her heart felt heavy knowing that he was going to leave her soon. It was as though it'd be hard for them to see each other again after Bernard left this time.

After Bernard parked the car, Hera leaned in her seat and gave him a peck on the cheek. She simply wanted to make him feel better, but things took a drastic turn and went out of control.

An hour later, Bernard carried Hera out of the car, entered the hotel, and booked a presidential suite to shower.

When they reached the suite, Hera pushed the bathroom door open and said, "You shower first. Hurry up. You need to head back to pack up."

"We can shower together to save time," Bernard suggested, his eyes gleaming with greedy light.
