The next morning, Hera woke up unusually early. She had packed their luggage before the two children got up, separating it into two parts. One was for the trip home with Gino and the children, and the other was for Tiffany to take to the villa Hera had rented the night before.
After packing the luggage and ordering breakfast from room service, Hera woke the children. Dylan got up and went to wash up by himself, but Dora was still reluctant to leave the bed.
"Mommy, it's so early. Are we going somewhere fun today?" Dora asked, still half-asleep.
"We're going back to your grandparents' house with your uncle. You'll get to meet your great-grandma and Uncle Gideon too," Hera said as she helped Dora change into a dress.
"Yay!" Dora cheered.
Gino joined them for breakfast. Hera asked Tiffany to take the luggage to the villa and clean up while she took the children and headed back to Norburgh with Gino.
Gino had called for the cab. He wanted to surprise the family, so he hadn't given them a heads-up.
Two and a half hours later, the car stopped at the Everett residence.
Judy was in the yard, overseeing the gardeners. When she heard the car pull up, she turned and saw Gino stepping out. "Mr. Gino, welcome back..."
She spotted the woman getting out of the back seat. She froze before shouting, "Ms. Hera! It's you!"
She ran into the villa. "Mrs. Everett Senior, Mrs. Everett, Ms. Hera is back!"
A moment later, Lilith rushed out, with Mildred following behind in a wheelchair.
When Lilith saw Hera, she paused in disbelief before rushing over and embracing her. "Hera, Hera! It's really you! You've finally come back. I missed you."
"Let me take a look. Is it really you, Hera?" Mildred thought Judy was too slow in pushing her and got up to walk over herself.
Hera looked around at the familiar surroundings, especially at Lilith, who was already in tears and refusing to let go of her.
"Mom, Hera was injured and doesn't remember anything from the past. Please don't overwhelm her," Gino gently reminded.
Only then did Lilith let go. "You don't remember me?"
Hera shook her head. "I don't know."
Mildred's expression darkened. Lilith, thinking she was upset, quickly changed the subject. "Let's talk inside. Dylan, Dora, come hold my hand."
Her granddaughter had been living alone and raising two children on her own. It must have been difficult for her. There was no point in blaming her now.
"Hera, take a look around. Maybe something will come back to you," Gino said to Hera.
After bringing her inside, Gino took out his phone and recorded a short video which he sent to the family's group chat. He tagged Gideon and James.
Gino texted: "Guess who came back?"
Five minutes passed, and no one responded, so he called Gideon.
On the other end, Gideon was busy, his phone on speaker and lying on the desk. "Say what you need to quickly or I'm hanging up. I'm in the middle of something."
