Hera was flabbergasted. She wondered if Bernard had lost some IQ points after Felix operated on him.

"Aren't you worried that I'll get pregnant—" She almost said "again" but stopped herself in time.

She added, "Didn't you say that I don't deserve to become your wife?"

Propping herself up on an elbow, she lifted an eyebrow as she asked him the question.

Bernard fell silent. He remembered the two kids at the mansion earlier and that they weren't his kids. For some reason, these made him frustrated and annoyed.

Pissed, he blurted, "If you can make babies with another man, why can't you get pregnant with my child?"

He spoke so quickly that he realized what those words meant only after speaking them, and he started to wonder if he had gone nuts.

How could something like that cross his mind? How could he think of making a materialistic woman like Hera pregnant with his child?

Hera slapped a hand to her forehead. She still couldn't tell him that Dylan and Dora were their children since he still hadn't gotten back his memories.

To ease the situation she was in, she jokingly said, "Children must be registered once they're born."

It clearly implied that she wanted to marry into the Killian family and bring her kids along with her to enjoy all the privileges. Bernard's face darkened at the thought.

"In your dreams!" he spat.

Hera simply responded, "Very well."

Her legs were still numb from having indulged herself with Bernard just now, but she had to bear with it.

Her clothes were torn, so she ended up opening the closet to see if she could get something to wear. Several sets of men's clothes were hung in the closet. It seemed like the necessities she'd placed in the closet back then had all been gotten rid of.

It didn't matter, though. She picked out a black sweater and pulled it over her head. The sweater was huge, and it reached her thighs when she put it on.

Her long, slender legs could be seen under the sweater, which served as a dress at the moment.

"Where are you going?" Bernard pushed himself up when he saw her putting on the sweater.

"I'm getting myself some contraceptive pills," said Hera, wringing her hair dry as she walked out of the room. She had no intention of getting pregnant with him as of now.

How dare he think of having a mistress!

Bernard laughed coldly. "A jerk? Why didn't you call yourself a playgirl for trying to get my attention in the first place?"

Hera was rendered speechless. Inhaling deeply, she repeatedly told herself that she needed to stay calm and not go berserk and lash out at a person who'd lost his memories.

"I told you before that this game ends only when I say so," said Bernard, reaching for the drawer of the bedside table.

He took out a pair of handcuffs, and before Hera could react, cuffed her hand to the headboard.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" Hera struggled to free her wrist from the handcuffs, but Bernard cuffed her other wrist to the headboard too.

She ended up lying on the bed with her legs spread apart just like her arms, losing her last bit of dignity.

Standing by the bed, Bernard slowly put his clothes on and said, "Be a good lover, and this house will be yours. But if you dare to run away, I'll break your legs myself."

"Fuck!" Hera shouted at him. The courtyard house was already hers long ago!
