Bernard frowned at Douglas' message. Hera was just his lover! Why was Douglas calling her "sister-in-law"?

Bernard immediately replied, "Sister-in-law? Who told you to call her that?"

"Mr. Copley, I think Daddy replied to you." Dora was holding Douglas' phone inside the clinic and noticed a text notification on the lock screen, though the content was hidden.

Ever since Douglas found out that these two kids were Bernard and Hera's, his perception of them changed. He even forgave the prank they pulled on him. After all, they were his boss' children. He couldn't afford to offend them.

"It's fine, I'll reply later. Let me finish moving these herbs inside first." Douglas rolled his sleeves as he helped carry the medicinal herbs into the north wing.

If he didn't serve Hera well and she became unhappy, Bernard would be upset. And if he was upset, Douglas knew he would be sent off to feed the fishes. But if he served Hera well, she might plead on his behalf even if Bernard was unhappy, sparing him from certain doom.

Based on his past experiences, Douglas concluded that Hera's orders were absolute, and even Bernard listened to her.

"Okay, let's not worry about him. Mommy will be angry if she sees the herbs haven't been dealt with!" Dora tossed the phone aside.

Her dad didn't even come to help with the reopening of her mom's clinic, so she shouldn't delay Douglas any longer.

Douglas was in charge of carrying the herbs, while Dora and Tiffany helped unpack them. Dylan busied himself distributing the herbs into their respective cabinets. Although Dylan was young, he could already identify most herbs.

Meanwhile, Bernard waited outside for roughly an hour. Seeing that Douglas still hadn't replied to his message, his face fell. He pushed open the car door and walked into the clinic.

"M-Mr. Killian," Sarah stammered.

Isla's eyes kept darting toward the examination room. Should they call Hera out to stop Bernard from wrecking the place? Or maybe they shouldn't. What if he trashed the place and hurt Hera?

Bernard glanced around the lobby but couldn't find Hera, so he strode deeper inside. In the courtyard, he finally saw Douglas who had yet to respond to his message.

Douglas was busy moving things around. He was obedient to the kids' every command and would do anything they told him to without complaints. He was too busy to notice Bernard.

He only stopped after finishing moving all the herbs in the courtyard. By then, he was sweating profusely even in the middle of winter, with his coat off and his white shirt now dirty from all the work. He looked like a construction worker, yet he seemed to enjoy it.

"Alright, I've moved all the herbs inside. I don't know much about them, so I won't help sorting them. Any other heavy lifting I can do?" Douglas clapped his hands together.
