The dinner was wrapped up quite harmoniously. Amara personally helped Kevin back to his room before heading to the balcony on the second floor. She opened the window and gazed at the deep blue night sky, letting the night breeze wash over her.
"Thanks for today."
Finnian's voice emerged from behind. Amara turned around to see him with his hands tucked into his pockets, slowly approaching. He gazed down at her, his eyes revealing nothing of his emotions.
Amara nodded, replying in a calm voice, "It was nothing, really. No need to thank me."
This was the first time they spoke face-to-face since their encounter at the club. Although they had crossed paths multiple times at the film set and the Everly estate, they had acted like strangers, not even exchanging greetings.
Talking to him felt a bit awkward for Amara. After speaking, she turned back to the night view, acting indifferent to his presence and silently wishing he would leave soon.
Finnian didn't leave right away. He just stared at her gentle profile, recalling how she had been during dinner.
In front of others, Amara would slightly lift her mask to eat, carefully using her utensils to pick up a small bite of food and slide it under the mask, chewing slowly. Hence, the way she had the meal was expressly steady and quiet.
Finnian didn't know why he was thinking about her eating habits, which seemed insignificant. Amara wasn’t particularly important to him, but her actions today had caught him off guard. So, after leaving the dining room, he felt compelled to thank her.
After expressing his gratitude, Finnian remained silent and stayed by her side, not moving away immediately. The atmosphere grew increasingly awkward. Amara acted nonchalant, but inside she was cringing. Why wasn’t he leaving?
Silent, Finnian continued to gaze at the top of her head, his gaze deep and unreadable.
