Finnian was the biggest investor in the project, which gave him the authority to make decisions. Everyone around cast sympathetic glances at Amara, while Liliana smirked with a sense of triumph.
Amara felt numb. She nodded. "I'll revise it now. I won't need three hours."
She had spent yesterday figuring out how to make the changes, still too wary of upsetting Finnian.
However, she had thought of a clever solution involving a stand-in, and she quickly left to find one. She hadn't anticipated how things would turn out.
Turning to Sunny, Amara apologized, handed her some cab fare, and sent her on her way. Without looking at anyone else, Amara headed straight to the break room.
Finnian watched her retreating figure. Her shoulders seemed so frail, as if she were deeply upset. Was it just his imagination?
"Finn?"
Liliana tugged at his sleeve, wondering why he was staring at Amara.
"What's it?"
As Finnian looked down, Liliana found his eyes devoid of emotion, putting her at ease. She pouted playfully, "Nothing, the baby’s just hungry again. Let's grab something to eat."
Back in the room, Amara quickly revised the scene and showed it to Cedric to confirm it was okay. Then she called Liliana and Keith back to shoot the scene.
The revised scene had less of an intimate vibe, and the emotions weren't as rich. Amara advised Cedric to make sure the post-production team edited it well, hopefully creating a dreamy, abstract beauty.
If the post-production was skillful, the scene could still meet expectations. If not, it could be ruined. Sighing, Amara finished her discussion with Cedric and was about to return to the break room when Finnian stopped her. "You're not happy?"
"Do you need something?"
Amara asked bluntly, not even bothering to hide her irritation.
Liliana smiled slightly and, like she owned the place, walked in, closing the door behind her. Then she spoke, "Amara, you didn't want to change the scene before because you wanted me to get close to another guy and make Finn upset, right? You don't really want to divorce Finn. You've admitted it yourself. But do you really think all these schemes will make him like you? You're deluding yourself."
Amara's anger flared, banishing any lingering drowsiness.
She glared at Liliana, retorting with a cold laugh, "What you do with other people is none of my business. Don't project your petty ideas onto me. You're overestimating yourself."
Her words were harsh, yet Liliana maintained an air of elegance tinged with mild mockery. Truly, she was a woman of remarkable composure.
