Jenson chuckled. "I'm broke."
"Broke and you still ride like a madman? Don't you value your life?"
"Ha! Why should I value a worthless life?" Jenson's eyes were filled with apathy.
Tiffany was taken aback before retorting, "Exactly! If you don't care about your life, why should anyone else?"
Jenson paused, and his tone softened. "I told you to hold on earlier, but you wouldn't. Only when it mattered did you finally embrace me."
"Don't flatter yourself; when I held you, I was picturing a pig."
Jenson burst into laughter, his eyes sparkling in the sunlight. "You sure have a sharp tongue, silly girl!"
Tiffany was speechless; they were roughly the same age; why was he acting so superior and calling her 'silly girl'?
"The bus is here. Take care," Jenson said.
Tiffany forced a smile, scanned her pass, and boarded the bus. As she settled into her seat and glanced out the window, she noticed Jenson had already turned and left.

When Vincent arrived at the hospital, Kelly was helping Anna drink water.
"Mr. Lewis, you're here." Kelly set down the cup and moved aside.
"How's Grandma?" Vincent asked, looking at Anna.
"I'm fine now, but Kelly had a rough night taking care of me." Anna patted his hand. After this incident, Anna's attitude toward Kelly had softened considerably.
Vincent was startled. "What's wrong?"
Kelly shook her head, and her gaze lifted to meet his. Tears streamed down her face as she spoke, "Mr. Lewis, Alex took me to the police station last night. They said I was implicated in Brianna's scheme to hurt Tiffany. I truly didn't know about it, and I never told Brianna to do anything.
"That text message was just a joke; I had never expected Brianna to use it as an excuse to harm someone... I'm so sorry, Mr. Lewis... The thought that I almost indirectly caused Tiffany's death fills me with guilt. I really didn't mean any harm."
Kelly's words were punctuated by sobs. Her remorse was evident.
Coupled with the lack of sleep, her crying only made her appear more worn out.
Vincent responded, "The police have cleared everything up, so that's good. Thankfully, Tiffany is alright. If something had happened, that text message would have been difficult to explain."
Kelly nodded. "I've deleted Brianna's number and will never have anything to do with her again. But… I don't care what others think of me. Do you believe me?"
