But because Luke had relied on his in–laws to achieve success in his career, his wife, Katie, tended to be more controlling. She was rarely as gentle and considerate as Lorraine would be. 

Seeing Lorraine treat Logan with such care, Luke couldn’t help but feel jealous of Logan. He even had the impression that Lorraine should be caring for him instead. 

“Babe, this dish is delicious. You should try some,” Lorraine said as she helped Logan to a serving. 

Logan accepted the food with a smile and helped Lorraine to a few pieces of steak. 

Soon, everyone began to eat. 

However, the married couple kept acting affectionately throughout the whole meal, constantly helping each other with their food. 

Logan had even worn a plastic glove to help peel the prawns on the table. He had peeled some for his children, but most of the prawns had ended up on an empty plate in front of Lorraine. 

Lorraine loved prawns. 

Jenny, Veronica, and Cheryl watched Logan and Lorraine affectionate act throughout the dinner. They had never seen Logan treat a woman so well. 

Logan had always been the type to keep his distance from women with family being his only exception. 

Despite being childhood friends with Angela, he hadn’t hesitated to keep his distance after learning about Terence’s feelings for her. 

Not only did Logan keep his distance, he also forbade Angela from getting too close to him. 

However, Lorraine had gotten to see Logan’s sweet and soft side easily. 

Jenny was glad she had reminded her two cousins to treat Lorraine with respect. It seemed like Logan was serious about his marriage. 

Surprisingly, they managed to finish the two tables of food. They had even ordered several fruits for dessert. 

On the other hand, the person who was supposed to be paying for the food, Luke, had eaten the least out of them all. 

He had lost his appetite watching Logan and Lorraine being so affectionate with each other. 

He had spent so much money to treat Lorraine to a meal, yet there were a bunch of outsiders here with them. He didn’t even get many chances to speak to Lorraine. 

But what shocked him was the fact that everyone seemed to have a great appetite. Everyone, even the two children, had eaten their fair share. 

The three women from the Moore family were picky yet great eaters. The whole meal would probably cost him a fortune. 

After everyone was full, Logan turned to Luke and said appreciatively, “Mr. Linton, thank you for treating my family to a meal today. It’s been so long since we’ve eaten such a delicious meal. We’re all super satisfied with the meal.” 

Cheryl inched closer to Jenny and whispered, “Jenny, Logan’s ability to lie seems to have improved again.” 

They had to work hard to follow in Logan’s footsteps. 

Jenny gently patted Cheryl’s shoulders, reminding her to remain quiet to prevent any slip ups. 

Luke forced a smile and said, “No matter what, me and Lorraine had been in a loving relationship once. Although we did not last, we were happy once. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to meet again. 

“I couldn’t help but feel sad after learning about the difficult situation she’s in. I

I wanted to treat you all to a meal, hoping that Lorraine and your two kids can enjoy some good food. 

Logan’s gaze darkened. How dare Luke have the audacity to mention his past with Lorraine. Lorraine did not hold back as she refuted Luke. 

“Luke, our relationship is way in the past. You cheated on me to get with Joycelyn. That’s nothing to be proud of. Don’t you feel ashamed to mention it constantly? 

“I am in a difficult situation, but I don’t need your pity. If you weren’t adamant on treating me to a meal, I also wouldn’t be here. 

“If you continue to act like this, I’ll call a whole group to come and eat next time. Don’t cry when that happens. I’ll wait and see how many times you’ll be able to afford treating me.

After that, Lorraine carried Luna up and turned to Logan’s cousins. “Let’s go.” 

Luke’s complexion had turned red. So many years had passed, but Lorraine was still the same.
