charles and tree began to get worried when Lorraine showed no signs of getting seriously involved with anyone despite being 27 years old, especially when Matthew got married before her. That was why they started urging her to get married, so much so that she had decided to jump into manage immediately. 

For the time being, Logan proved to be a decent guy. He was better than Jaden anyway. Vanessa hoped that Lorraine would have a better marriage than the one she had. 

“Once I’m done with the cherries, I’ll follow Logan back to his family’s place and stay with them during the weekend. I’ll be able to get a better understanding of his family then ” Lorraine and Vanessa, all the while harvesting cherries. 

“I’m not worried about his family upbringing at all just by observing the way my grandmother–in–law and mother–in–law carry themselves, I can tell that he comes from a decent family” 

As Vanessa recalled seeing the plainly dressed yet sophisticated–looking Joslin and Hestia, she aba thought that Logan’s family had to be fairly respectable 

As a married woman herself, Vanessa believed that the family of a woman’s husband was extremely important. She had been such a fool for allowing Jade to have such a hold on her that she ignored Charles and trene’s protests. She had insisted on marrying him, but now.. 

Alas, it had been the wrong decision. She had dedicated herself to the wrong person 

“Vanessa, try some of these Sentennial cherries, Lorraine offered. She wanted to stop the discussion about the Wares by having Vanessa try the cherries instead. 

Smiling, Vanessa replied, “Sure Filtry some.” 

“It tastes even better this time. Raine, when you see your in–laws this weekend, it’ll be your first meeting the family officially at their place, right? Bring some Sentennial cherries with you so that they can have a taste to” 

“Of course. I’ve got so many types of fruits growing here, and they’re all better than the ones you can buy elsewhere. I’ll bring a few baskets of each. Logan has a huge family,” Lorraine said. 

Just then, her phone started ringing. After checking it, she said, “Logan’s calling” 

“Hurry up and answer then. See if he needs anything “Vanessa urged. 

Chucking, Lorraine replied, “I’m guessing he’s just calling while on a break. It won’t be anything serious.” 

The weather was stifling, and in Logan’s line of work, there was no way they could keep working without a break. They’d have to pause for some rest and water to avoid getting heatstroke. 

“Hey, Logan,” Lorraine said while leaning against a branch. “Are you done with work? 

“Not yet. I’m just taking a break to have some water. It’s too hot today, I’m dying from the heat after just being out there for a while. My sweat has already soaked through my clothes,” Logan said in reality, he had just finished an important mating and was sitting inside his air–conditioned office. 

The sweltering heat outside had nothing to do with him. His office was as cool as it could possibly be. He was merely pretending to be out working on a construction site while on thecall with Lorraine. His lies were as plain as day. 

“Make sure to drink more water, Lorraine reminded. 

“Yeah, I will. Don’t tire yourself out either. You have workers too. Are you going to be having lunch at home or at the orchard 

Smiling, Lorraine replied, “I’m used to the work, so I don’t feel tired. The orchard is full of trees, and it’s upon the mountainside too, so the wind is stronger. It’s rather cool bere. “I’ll be eating launch at the orchard. It’ll just be the two of us here anyway, so it won’t be much of a hassle.”
