Helen brushed a stray hair from her face and gave a confident smile. "Since you're all so skilled at chess, be sure to give me a chance to play later."

As her words faded, Otto appeared in the distance.

Noticing Helen surrounded by a group of women, he quickened his pace. He stepped in between Helen and the others, his piercing gaze scrutinizing Megan and her friends.

The group of women felt a sudden unease and instinctively looked away, nervously swallowing. Megan, however, quickly regained her composure.

Leveraging her connection with Chandler, she approached Otto and said, "Hello, Mr. Sheridan. I'm Megan Zollinger. My cousin, Chandler Newton, was previously affiliated with this organization. I'm not sure if you—"

Before Megan could finish, Otto turned his attention to Helen. He leaned in closer and asked softly, "Are these people giving you trouble?"

Megan's hand hovered awkwardly in midair. Observing Otto's protective stance toward Helen, she pulled her hand back in frustration. Her fists were clenched so tightly that her nails nearly cut into her palms.

For years, Megan had secretly harbored feelings for Chandler, but his impressive demeanor left her too intimidated to ever confess.

When Chandler eventually introduced Helen to the entire family, Megan could only sigh at her misfortune.
