In Edmund's class, survival of the fittest was the rule. Each month, students were ranked based on their average scores; those who scored above the average would remain, while those who scored below would be dropped.

The specialized preparatory program brought together the brightest from the University of Glendale's Physics Faculty. Even Megan knew she couldn't always guarantee a top spot.

Megan's smug expression was so obvious that Helen couldn't even pretend not to notice. She calmly looked at Megan before turning to Edmund. "Mr. Murdoch, rest assured. I understand the rules and will give it my best effort."

Edmund remained doubtful that a liberal arts student, especially one who had been admitted to the program through a sponsor, could score above average. He was particularly irked by Helen's overconfident attitude.

Nonetheless, a lack of skill wasn't a problem if someone was humble and willing to learn; in those cases, he wouldn't be overly strict. However, given Helen's current attitude, he felt it was necessary to keep a close eye on her.

Turning away from Helen, Edmund gently reminded Megan, "Once you've completed the paperwork, please return to the classroom. I'll handle submitting the form to the academic office.

"The class placement test is approaching, so be sure to pay close attention. Seating will be assigned based on your exam results."

"Got it, Mr. Murdoch!" Megan raised her voice deliberately, wanting to flaunt her preferential treatment in front of Helen.

However, when she looked over, she saw that Helen was absorbed in her phone and hadn't even glanced in her direction.

Furious, Megan hastily said goodbye to Jacob and stormed off. She vowed to outshine Helen in the upcoming class placement test and prove that Helen couldn't measure up to her level.

Once Megan was out of sight, Edmund turned to Helen, his expression becoming stern. "Are you deaf or something? I just mentioned that the class placement test is about to start. Why are you still on your phone?"

"Just focus on your studies and prove your abilities. If you do that, he'll have no reason to give you trouble."

"Thank you for the advice, Mr. Morrison," Helen said earnestly before hurrying toward the Advanced Studies Building.

Uncertain about when Edmund's exam would start, she quickened her pace and soon caught up with Megan.

However, since she didn't know the exact location of the classroom, she decided to slow down and discreetly follow Megan from a distance.

With her inflated sense of self-importance, Megan kept checking behind her every few minutes.

When she spotted Helen, Megan stopped and sneered, "I thought I was being followed by a stalker, but it's just you, Ms. Spencer—the one who got into the specialized preparatory program through financial means."

Helen didn't bother engaging with Megan. She simply walked past her and continued on her way.
