As soon as Simon finished speaking, four or five thugs armed with knives moved straight toward Helen.
"Boss, run!" Tommy shouted, trying to get up and rush over to protect her. However, just as he was getting to his feet, one of the thugs kicked him back down and grabbed him by the neck. "Stay down, dammit!"
Two more thugs crouched down, holding his arms and legs, while another landed a hard punch to his stomach.
Tommy let out a muffled grunt, blood immediately trickling from the corner of his mouth.
He coughed and yelled, "Don't touch her! This has nothing to do with her! She doesn't know anything. If you have a grudge, take it out on me. Let her go!"
"Heh, still got some guts, huh…" Simon sneered. "Normally, I might respect that. But tonight's different—someone paid good money to make sure the three of you don't walk away from this. None of you are getting out of here!"
With that, he impatiently barked at the thugs moving toward Helen, "What are you doing? Didn't have breakfast? Move faster! If the cops show up before we're done and you mess this up, I'll be the first to take you down!"
Spurred on by the threat, the thugs picked up their pace, breaking into a jog. But they didn't get far before they heard the sound of countless footsteps around them.
Stopping about six feet from Helen, they finally realized that the sound was coming from behind her.
They halted, adjusting their focus to peer into the dark alley behind her. A moment later, their eyes widened in shock as they began to retreat.
"What are you doing? Are you afraid of one girl? Do you want me to beat you myself?" Simon shouted furiously, kicking over a nearby trash can. He stormed forward to teach his men how to handle things properly.
Simon swallowed nervously, then shouted to his crew, "Retreat!"
The gang turned and fled, racing toward the end of the alley. But just as they were about to escape, another group of men in identical black suits appeared, blocking the exit completely.
The thugs skidded to a halt, looking around frantically. They were trapped with no way out.
"How boring," Helen muttered, slightly disappointed by the lack of a challenge.
Adjusting her cap, she gave a calm order, "Round them all up."
