As the dinner wrapped up and guests gradually left, Abigail made her way outside the hotel.

Just as she reached for her phone to request a ride, a bouquet of roses unexpectedly appeared before her. Looking up, she found Gideon gazing at her with warmth in his eyes.

"How did you know I'd be here?" Abigail asked. She tucked her phone away, feeling a bit flustered.

In the past few years, they had been inseparable, swept up in one adventure after another. She had believed that was the way it was meant to be.

Yet after only a few days apart, she discovered that life without Gideon wasn't as daunting as she had thought.

In truth, she felt a weight lift from her shoulders; for the first time, she could be herself without the fear of betraying anyone.

Besides, she had no interest in being the perfect person and following all the rules—that would be far too mundane.

"Have you forgotten? After you joined us, we all turned on location tracking on our phones, just in case of emergencies," Gideon said softly, stepping closer.

"Abigail," he continued, "I've thought this through. I like you for who you are. I appreciate your strengths and accept your flaws. Love is about growing together, and I'm willing to adapt for you."

"Let's part on good terms," Abigail replied, a steadfast believer in destiny. "If two people are truly meant for each other, there shouldn't be a need for compromise. If you have to change to make things fit, then it's not love."

"But I'm not changing, am I? I've just learned to accept you—everything about you. Doesn't that prove my love for you?" Gideon asked, standing firm in his position.

While Abigail didn't want to hurt him, she knew she had to be honest. The truth was that she didn't love him; being with him just didn't spark anything inside her.

Before she could speak, Taylor appeared, completely oblivious to the tension.

Even though Abigail had a soft spot for Taylor, it didn't mean she wasn't tempted to strangle him.

"What are you trying to do?" Taylor felt a wave of unease and instinctively took a step back.

"What are you two talking about?" Gideon asked as he stepped forward.

Abigail shot him a glance. Gathering her courage, she grabbed Taylor's shirt and pulled him closer, kissing him decisively.

Taylor was completely taken aback, his mind racing as he instinctively held his breath, his ears flushing bright red.

Was he really being kissed at this moment?
