As the minutes passed, the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward.

After a moment of contemplation, Chandler raised his glass and stood up. "While we're at it, I'd like to make an announcement. Starting today, I will be formally pursuing Ms. Terzian. I hope you all will offer us your blessings."

Abigail's heart sank at his words, and she lowered her head, a bitter smile tugging at her lips.

While Chandler had completely moved on from Helen, Taylor remained fiercely loyal to her. If that wasn't love, then perhaps true love was just a rare myth.

Timing, as they say, was everything. Meeting Taylor after Helen had sealed Abigail's fate—she never had a chance. Still, she held no resentment toward Helen for winning his heart.

She suddenly slammed her hand on the table and rose to her feet, her usually indifferent expression now sharply focused on Chandler.

For a moment, it seemed like Abigail was about to explode, but instead, she reached for her glass. A smile spread across her face as she turned to "Kaylee". "Honestly, if Chandler were chasing anyone else today, I'd have flipped this table.

"But since it's you, I'm all in. I'm sure if Helen were here, she'd say the same. So, here's to you—may your happiness be endless."

With that, Abigail downed her drink in one go before pouring herself another. Raising her glass toward Chandler, she added, "Don't think that just because I'm not standing in your way means I've forgiven you. If you treat Kaylee the way you've treated other women, I won't let you off the hook. Got it?"

"Don't worry," Chandler said, clinking his glass with hers. "I'll do my best to make her my wife."

"Great! Here's to your success—cheers!" Abigail responded, downing another drink.

Since Abigail was using alcohol to numb herself, he'd do the same—and he'd do it even more recklessly. That way, it would feel justified.

Having a high tolerance for alcohol could be more trouble than it was worth. The dinner party had started while there was still light out, but by the time Abigail was completely drunk, it was already well past 11:00 pm.

With Chandler's help, Helen managed to get the completely wasted Abigail back to her place.

Even after they'd gotten her into bed, Abigail wouldn't calm down. She kept mumbling to herself, her words slurred and incoherent, drifting in and out of sense.
