That night, Helen let Chandler stay in her room, but they did nothing, fearing the kids might barge in again. Chandler had a tough night enduring his desire, and he only fell asleep before dawn.
Not long after he fell asleep, Helen lifted the blanket beside him and was about to get out of bed. He pulled her back into his arms and leaned close to her like a clingy dog. "Sleep a little longer."
"I'm used to getting up early. Besides, the sun is already out. Lincoln will overthink if I don't go out." Helen pushed his hands away softly.
"What will a seven-year-old kid think about?" Chandler didn't even open his eyes.
Recalling the scene from last night, she felt embarrassed again and slapped the back of his hand. "Can you please take your son's observing skills seriously?"
Chandler reluctantly withdrew his hands and sat up properly on the bed. He really wished that his son wasn't so smart at this moment.
Helen put on the bathrobe and walked into the bathroom to brush her teeth.
After zoning out on the bed for a while, Chandler rushed into the bathroom and hugged her from behind. He lazily nuzzled her neck.
"Chandler!" Helen felt both ticklish and numb. "Your beard!"
Chandler, however, refused to leave. Helen had no choice but to lather up some foam and help him to shave his beard.
Chandler shaved his stubble daily but it still grew back in a large patch the next day, making it quite a hassle to take care of it. This was the first time Helen was doing this, so she was careful not to hurt him.
Seeing how focused she was, he suddenly decided to tease her. With foam all over his face, he leaned in and pretended to kiss her.
Helen agilely dodged. "Stop messing around."
After pondering for a while, Chandler turned to walk out and instructed with a deep voice. "Take them to the side lounge, and tell them that I will go over once I finish my work."
"Alright, Mr. Newton."
"Do you really intend to meet them?" Helen was a little displeased.
Chandler wore a faint smile. "Let them wait and suffer for a bit. If what you said is true, and they're loud but weak, there's no need to worry that they would make a scene. There's nothing to be afraid of."
"If you want to meet them, go meet them yourself. I feel physically repelled by that family." Sparing them another glance made her feel sorry for the late Kaylee.
"There's no rush. Our family has finally reunited, and today is definitely family time."
