But at the last moment, Adrian couldn't bring himself to act. He let go of Ursula, allowing her to collapse onto the couch, then turned and walked away.
As he passed through the doorway, he vented his frustration on the bodyguards, slapping three of them hard across the face.
"If you let anyone back in, I'll end your lives!"
…
When evening came, Chandler received a call from Louis, informing him of an urgent matter that required his attention at home.
As he entered the living room, he found Hobart sitting on the couch alongside a uniformed officer, their serious demeanor indicating they meant business.
The officer greeted Chandler politely, standing to introduce himself. "Mr. Chandler, I apologize for the inconvenience, but I needed to request your presence personally."
"It's no trouble," Chandler replied, extending his hand for a brief shake. "How should I address you?"
"Just call me Officer Wertz," Martin Wertz replied.
"Alright," Chandler said, gesturing for him to take a seat. "What brings you here, Officer Wertz?"
"I wouldn't say it's anything serious, but I'd like to clarify a few things with Mr. Adrian," Martin said with a warm smile, clearly cautious not to offend him.
Just then, Adrian strolled in leisurely through the front door.
Hobart sprang to his feet, pointing an accusatory finger. "It's him! This controlling maniac has Ursula trapped in his house right now!"
Martin turned to Chandler and Louis for confirmation. "Gentlemen, is what Mr. Adrian claims true?"
"It is," Louis confirmed. "His mother is particularly fond of Ursula as a future daughter-in-law. She even suggested holding a joint wedding for both brothers.
"Our family has been busy with arrangements, so the announcement hasn't gone public yet. I never imagined it would lead to such a major misunderstanding."
"You're lying!" Hobart shot back. "You're all working together to protect Adrian while completely ignoring Ursula's safety. If anything happens to her, how could you all live with yourselves?"
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Priscilla, who had remained silent until now, finally lost her patience. "I haven't even had the chance to speak yet! You come in here with those accusing eyes, acting rude and questioning everyone.
"What do you take us for? My son doesn't need to resort to underhanded tactics to get any woman he wants! Say one more word, and I'll sue you for defamation. Let's see how long you last behind bars!"
