Lincoln had even assumed that he was unable to keep friends because of his personality.
"Have you thought it through?" Lincoln asked. "Coming here means you'll have to go through hardships. Aren't you afraid?"
"No." Howard shook his head and answered seriously, "My dad told me that the ones who endure hardships with me truly want the best for me. Boss, you don't even mind that I'm slow, so how can I be afraid of hardships?"
Lincoln fell silent. His father was right; he had underestimated Howard.
Seeing that Lincoln didn't respond, Howard became a little anxious and murmured softly, "Boss, do you not like me anymore?"
Jeremiah ran over to pull Howard in and threw his arm around his shoulder, joking, "Come on, I won't dislike you. Without you, no one will take the last place for me."
"Nonsense. I'm about to catch up to you, and you'll be the one in the last place," Howard retorted.
"You're the last. You're the one in the last place."
"Stop saying that I'm in the last place, or I'll crush you!"
Lincoln rubbed his forehead helplessly. Was there really a need to fight between getting the last place and the second last place?
"Shut up, you both! Go back to your seat and start studying immediately. You can only go home when you finish today's tasks."
With that command, Howard and Jeremiah instantly let go of each other and hurried back to their seats. They certainly didn't want to stay here.
Seeing how serious his two friends were studying, Lincoln couldn't help but smile slightly. He then returned to the couch and worked on his mini computer.
Two minutes later, Sienna knocked on the door and walked in, clumsily carrying a jug of orange juice and replacing the one on the table.
"Mommy, didn't I tell you that Sienna and you are not allowed to go in and disturb us? Boys need their own space to work." Lincoln was both aggrieved and angry.
"Alright." Helen pouted. "But are you guys really not hungry?"
"Yes, I think Howard and Jeremiah are very hungry." Sienna echoed seriously, widening her big, beautiful eyes.
Lincoln pulled a long face and puffed out his cheeks. With two little arms crossing over his chest, he scolded them, "You both are becoming the obstacles on their path to success."
"Really?" Helen teased him with a cheeky smile. "Did we hinder you then?"
"Mommy!" Lincoln was not joking.
Seeing that he was really upset, Helen hurriedly apologized. "Okay, okay. I promise not to disturb you guys anymore. Is that alright?"
