Isabelle fell silent, her eyebrows knitting together as she weighed Diana's words.

Everyone knew that Chandler had always been generous to women. If Kaylee truly owed money, he wouldn't just stand by and do nothing. There was no reason for the Terzian family to take the fall.

Noticing Isabelle's hesitation, Diana turned to Jason, gripping his pants tightly as she sobbed, "Jason, I know you care about Katie. If I arrange for her to marry you, would you be willing to take us in? We're easy to care for—just feed us two meals a day, and we can work for you in return!"

Jason shoved her hand away in disgust. "Are you out of your mind? Stop talking nonsense! Get your hand off me before you dirty my haute couture—no amount of money in your life could ever compensate for this!"

Devastated, Diana wiped her tears and mourned, "Why am I so unfortunate?"

At that moment, Isabelle's icy demeanor melted away. She bent down and gently helped Diana to her feet. "Don't cry, Mrs. Terzian. I'll take you to get something to eat and help you find a place to stay."

"Are you really going to do this? We have an appointment with the investors!" Jason snapped, angrily pointing at his watch to emphasize their dwindling time.

"It doesn't matter; they're not going to invest in us anyway." Isabelle shot him a pointed look, urging him to cooperate. "Come on, give me a hand here!"

Jason felt conflicted but couldn't bring himself to be harsh. With a reluctant sigh, he trailed behind her.

Before long, an hour had slipped by.

After helping Diana settle in, Jason confronted Isabelle as they stepped out of the hotel. "I just don't understand your priorities," he said in exasperation. "We can barely keep up with our own problems, yet you still have the energy to get involved in the Terzian family's issues!"

"There's a reason for me doing this," Isabelle replied. "Kaylee is likely to be the next Mrs. Newton. Do you honestly think anyone would dare push the Terzian family this far without her and Chandler's approval?"

"Are you saying Kaylee is behind all of this?" Jason's voice dropped, filled with apprehension. "With all the setbacks we've faced on our project... could she have been sabotaging us from the very beginning?"

An uneasy shiver crept up Jason's spine under her icy stare. Just as he was about to turn away, Isabelle moved swiftly behind him, shoving him into the path of an oncoming taxi.

Before Jason could process what was happening, the car's wheel crushed down on his left leg, pinning him in place.

"Arghh!" Jason screamed, clutching his leg in agony. "It hurts so much! Someone, call an ambulance!"

"Can you hold on?" Isabelle crouched down beside him, calmly assessing his injuries.

"Fuck you, Isabelle! If I lose this leg, I'll make sure you regret it!" Jason bellowed, his rage drowning out any semblance of control.

"You can curse all you want; at least we've established some sincerity now."
