When Abigail's name reached his ears, Taylor's eyes shot open, and he sprang up from the couch in a panic.

As Abigail stepped inside, he froze for a moment. Grabbing the pink blanket, he threw it over his head and scrambled upstairs.

The commotion caught Abigail's attention, prompting her to look up. All she saw was a tall, lanky figure in a pale yellow dress with a pink headscarf darting out of sight.

"Who was that?" Abigail wondered aloud.

"Just the new housekeeper," Helen replied.

Considering the Fitzgerald family's habit of employing foreign workers, Abigail didn't give it much thought. "She's pretty tall."

"Yeah," Helen replied with a nervous laugh. "Aren't you supposed to be on a date today? Why are you back so soon?"

Abigail shook her head, leading Helen to the couch. "I'm not the clingy type. I don't need to see Aiden every day—it just doesn't feel right."

Helen nodded in understanding. "Fair enough. Even the closest couples need their space. 'Distance makes the heart grow fonder,' as they say."

Abigail gazed at her thoughtfully for a moment before abruptly changing the subject. "Do you think it's better to be married or stay single?"

"Does that mean you've decided on marriage?" Helen asked, her voice carrying a note of concern.

"I suppose so," Abigail replied, offering a faint, wry smile. "Everyone's been so focused on preparing for my engagement. Before I knew it, the day is almost here."

She quickly regained her composure, her expression turning serious. "Someone once told me that when it comes to families and the businesses associated with them, it's always best to plan ahead.

"If something were to happen to my father, I'd be left unprepared and vulnerable to manipulation. It's not that I don't trust Aiden, but if marriage is inevitable, it's better to take care of everything else that comes with this new chapter of my life."

As she spoke, her thoughts drifted to Juliet.

It was ironic. Juliet had been sent away, yet Abigail found herself reflecting on her words.

Upstairs, Taylor unexpectedly collided with Lincoln as their paths crossed. Worried that Lincoln might spill the beans, he quickly scooped him up and carried him into the study, locking the door behind them.

"Lincoln, listen to me," Taylor said, his face still smeared with makeup, making him look anything but intimidating. "You cannot make a sound, understand?"

"Who's downstairs? Is it Aunt Abigail? I'll go check."

Lincoln casually slid one hand into his pocket, raising an eyebrow as if he knew exactly what was going to happen. Without a moment's hesitation, he grasped the door handle and turned it.

"Get back here!" Taylor barked, grabbing Lincoln and pulling him away from the door. "I'm serious. If you tell anyone, I swear I'll disown you as my godson!"

"Relax, I'm not that clueless," Lincoln said, making a zipping motion across his lips. "See? All sealed. I won't say a word."

"Well, look at you being responsible for once." Taylor let out a sigh of relief, dropping to the floor. He leaned against the door, giving his chest a few pats.

He'd just narrowly avoided Abigail seeing him in this ridiculous state. Thank goodness he moved quickly.
