Once Hugo was sure Taylor had walked far enough away, he quickly regained his composure. Pulling out his phone, he made a call. "It's me. I need you to help me investigate someone."

So what if Taylor could fight? He might be able to take down ten men, but there was no way he'd handle a hundred.

Once Hugo reorganized his crew, he'd go after Taylor again and show him who was really in charge.

Cheating was one thing, but for Taylor to steal the token of affection between him and Abigail was unforgivable. Hugo couldn't let it go—he was determined to make him pay, no matter what.

However, that very call inadvertently exposed his location.

Less than three hours after escaping the hospital, Hugo was captured again, right as he stepped out of the arcade. This time, though, he didn't put up a fight.

Later that night, Aiden arrived at the Hunt residence, looking weary and disheveled from his travels.

"What's the matter, Mr. Hunt? What's so urgent that you had to meet me here?" Aiden asked, settling into a chair next to Hugo.

Over the years, Hugo had often relied on Aiden to take the fall for him, and eventually, "Mr. Hunt" had become Aiden's playful nickname for him.

"Of course I'm here for something important," Hugo said with a grin, slinging an arm around Aiden's shoulder. "I've had a change of heart.

"I've decided to follow through with my old man's wishes and marry Ms. Fitzgerald. After all, you've been dealing with her on my behalf long enough. It's time for me to take over."

Aiden's smile briefly flickered, but he quickly hid his true feelings with a forced chuckle. "You really know how to keep me on my toes…"

His expression stiffened as he turned away, the smile disappearing from his face. Pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his tone grew colder. "This isn't something to take lightly. Are you sure about this? The engagement is only days away, and once it's official, there's no turning back."

"Don't worry, I've given it plenty of thought, and I'm certain about my decision," Hugo said, growing more enthusiastic with every word, completely unaware of the shift in Aiden's demeanor. "It's just a small request. You wouldn't say no, would you?"

"With me in charge, what could possibly go wrong?" Aiden answered nonchalantly.

"Okay, that's a relief. Just follow the same routine—stay alert, and call me when the old man begins his rounds," Hugo instructed.

"Don't worry, I've got it under control," Aiden responded with a confident grin.

"Alright, that's all from me. You can get back to work now."

For Hugo, Aiden's workaholic tendencies were well known. Since he found the business world dull and draining, he had no issue letting Aiden immerse himself in his passion for it.

What Hugo didn't realize, however, was that this seemingly casual remark would be the tipping point.

Aiden's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, his gaze still fixed on Hugo.
