"Of course, I know," the thin man muttered, clicking his tongue in annoyance. "I was just letting off some steam."

As his eyes fell on Lucy lying on the ground, a lecherous grin curled on his lips. "We've buried so many people on this farm—mostly middle-aged women or tough ones. But someone as beautiful as her… she's definitely the first."

Being a man himself, the tall man understood his intentions. "You'd better forget about it. Mr. Zac made it clear that we can't afford any distractions. If things go south, are you ready to take the fall?"

The thin man tossed the shovel aside, licking his lips as his eyes lingered on Lucy. "I can handle it. For someone this beautiful, taking a few risks is worth it."

"Are you serious?" the tall man replied, his face filled with hesitation. "Come on, cut it out."

"Please, just five minutes, that's all I need!" the thin man begged, pushing the tall man aside. "You stay on guard while I take care of things."

The tall man knew there was no stopping him. He drove the shovel into the dirt and turned away. "Fine, hurry up then!"

"Don't worry, I'll be quick!" the thin man said eagerly, rubbing his hands together as he approached Lucy. "Hey there, sweetheart, I'm coming for you."

With that, he lunged at her, his hands grabbing at her roughly.

Lucy's mouth was gagged, and she desperately shook her head. Although Kingsley had treated her, the fresh wave of humiliation that followed dragged her back into a suffocating abyss of helplessness.

She turned her face away in disgust, trying to escape his touch, her eyes fixed on the distant, pitch-black hills and sky. Despair overwhelmed her, and she shut her eyes tightly.

Suddenly, a sharp voice broke through the silence.

"Stop! I said let her go, do you hear me?"

Lucy's eyes shot open. From the shadows, Taylor rushed toward them, his presence like that of a hero coming to her rescue.

After several more exchanges, the thin man took a solid punch to the nose, sending him staggering backward in a daze. As he glanced down, he saw blood streaming from his nostrils.

"You damn bastard! Do you want to die?" he hissed, pulling a gun from behind his back.

Despite Zac's strict orders to avoid firearms to prevent further complications, the thin man's temper overcame his better judgment. He aimed the gun squarely at Taylor's exposed head and pulled the trigger without a second thought.

Just as the thin man fired, a shovel swung in from the side, knocking the gun from his hand. The bullet meant for Taylor's neck veered off course, striking the shovel and sending it flying from the tall man's grip.

The tall man froze, staring at the thin man in disbelief. "You idiot! Can't you aim properly?"

Before he could react further, Taylor landed a punch to the tall man's temple, sending him crashing to the ground.

With a swift motion, Taylor snatched the gun from his fallen opponent's back and pressed it firmly to his temple, instantly shifting the tide of the battle.
