"You're quick, I'll give you that," Colin said with a half-smile, deliberately teasing Stanson.
Stanson's face tightened for a moment, a hint of awkwardness creeping in. However, since Colin had brought Chandler's woman, he swallowed his irritation and forced a laugh. "It's just a figure of speech, that's all."
"Alright then. My part is done. Enjoy yourself, but don't forget our agreement."
"Relax! After today, we're practically brothers. What's mine is yours. Together, we'll bring Chandler down and make him run for his life!"
Colin's lips twitched into a faint, sardonic smile. Without another word, he turned and got into his car.
As soon as Stanson pulled Helen from the trunk, Colin slammed the gas pedal, his car disappearing down the rugged mountain road.
Stanson watched him vanish into the distance before shifting his attention back to Helen. Barely able to contain his excitement, he carried her toward the air raid shelter.
Realizing the opportunity to catch her prey had slipped away, Helen dropped her facade. As Stanson lunged toward her, she suddenly opened her eyes and met his gaze with a cold, unwavering stare.
A shiver ran down Stanson's spine, and he instinctively took a step back. "Y-You… you're awake?"
This wasn't how it was supposed to unfold. He had planned to take advantage of her while she was unconscious and then quietly dispose of her. Had Colin failed to drug her?
Now, with her wide-open eyes fixed on him, he froze. Was it too late to back out?
Helen noticed the hesitation in his expression and realized he had backed down. Seizing the opportunity, she acted quickly.
"Don't even think about it. You've kidnapped me, and Chandler won't let this slide. But if you're willing to cooperate and help us take down Colin and whoever else is behind this, I'll make sure Chandler stays off your back."
As she spoke, she discreetly drew a blade from her sleeve and began cutting through the ropes that bound her hands.
Hearing her words, Stanson's mind sharpened. "Do you really think I'm that naive? Chandler's always been against me. With Colin out of the way, he'll have an easier time dealing with me.
"Honestly, this conflict with him will never end, so I might as well take advantage of this opportunity. When the time comes, I'll get rid of you and erase all evidence—let's see how he'll touch me then."
"Ah! My eye! What have you done to me?"
Stanson staggered across the room, his hands clutching his face, blood seeping through his fingers and staining his skin. The sight was grotesque, the air heavy with the sound of his anguished cries.
As his screams filled the space, Helen calmly finished untying the ropes binding her feet. She stood up, her face an emotionless mask as she observed him.
"I could have taken both your eyes," she said icily, "but I want to earn some good karma for my child. So, I'll spare the other one for now.
"Remember this—no matter how powerless a woman may appear, she has the right to say no. Without her consent, you have no right to impose anything on her."
Stanson shot her a seething glare, his face contorting in pain. The veins on his forehead swelled, giving him a threatening, almost monstrous look.
"I'll kill you!" he spat, unable to accept being defeated by a woman. With a crazed, desperate expression, he lunged toward her.
But in the next moment, he fell to the ground, unable to even touch his wounded eye. His gaze turned unfocused as he stared blankly at the ceiling.
