"Holy shit!" Jenson exaggeratedly leaned back and asked, "Excuse me, who are you?"

"I'm your handsome friend." Taylor dragged himself in like a zombie and plopped down on a couch. He poured himself a glass of water and gulped it down.

"Didn't you go to look for Helen? Why do you look like you just came back from a battle?" Jenson was greatly shocked, feeling like Taylor had become awfully skinny and haggard.

Taylor replied absentmindedly, "No, I just don't want to be idle. Once I'm idle, I have to face a lot of things that I don't want to deal with."

Jenson and Germaine exchanged a glance, and their earlier guesses were probably spot on.

Jenson cleared his throat, scooted over to sit beside Taylor, and leaned in to probe quietly. "Be honest, did you make a mistake that day on the mountain?"

"I didn't!" Taylor suddenly stood up and shouted agitatedly. "I won't betray Abigail. Nothing happened that day, and we will make up."

Jenson was startled by Taylor's reaction. After a moment of daze, Jenson snapped back to his senses and got up to push Taylor back down. "Fine, you didn't do it. We just asked out of concern for you two. Why are you so worked up?"

"Am I worked up?" Taylor forced a smile and pretended to be relaxed. "I'm not worked up. Anyway, apart from Abigail, I'll never love another woman in this life. We'll be happy, for sure."

He also wasn't sure if those words were meant for Jenson or for himself.

"Hey, are you okay? What's going on? Don't scare me!" Jenson shook Taylor hard, but he remained unresponsive, so Jenson had to call Lincoln down from upstairs.

"Did this guy go without sleeping for the past few days?" Jenson was both angry and heartbroken.

"It's very likely," Germaine replied. "When Helen went missing last time, he lost the courage to face everything. Now, he probably also needs Helen to give him some confidence."
