Lucy had just exited the doctor's office at the hospital. After taking a few steps, she stopped abruptly, her eyes fixed on the test report in her hand.

The word "Positive" on the pregnancy test jumped out at her.

She frowned, her face twisted in pain and inner turmoil. This child shouldn't have been conceived, yet it was a living being. Could she really be so selfish as to deny it the right to exist?

Lost in thought, a pair of strong hands suddenly covered her mouth from behind. A long arm encircled her waist, dragging her forcibly into a nearby stairwell.

"Mmhm!"

Lucy fought desperately, trying to scream and alert someone, but her mouth was sealed tight, and the faint sound she managed couldn't reach the exit door.

"Calm down, Lucy. It's me—your cousin, the one who's always looked out for you," Aiden said softly, trying to sway her with persuasive words. "Don't you remember how I used to spoil you? Despite my flaws, I've never wanted to hurt you.

"Right now, both the police and the gangs are after me, and I have nowhere to turn. Please, help me just this once. If you agree, just nod, and I'll let you go. You won't have to suffer anymore."

Lucy struggled for a moment, but realizing she couldn't overpower him, she steeled herself and gave a reluctant nod.

"That's more like it, Lucy. I knew I could trust you. Alright, I'll let you go now. But don't scream. Destiny Corporation's men may have taken my gun, but I still have a knife. There's more than enough time to deal with those who betrayed me before anyone else arrives."

After threatening her, Aiden slowly loosened his grip on her.

As he expected, Lucy didn't scream. Instead, she stepped back, taking in deep breaths of fresh air.

Just as Aiden began to relax, Lucy suddenly pulled a gun from her bag and pointed it directly at him. "Hands up. Now."

After Hugo's assassination attempt, she had been given the gun for self-defense, never expecting she would need to use it so soon. It seemed Aiden truly wouldn't relent.

Once she was sure he was gone, Lucy quickly exited the stairwell, slipping the gun into her pocket. Her fingers gripped it tightly as she rushed out of the hospital.

Unbeknownst to her, Aiden hadn't gone far. After she left, he returned to the hospital and cornered the doctor who had just examined her.

Pressing a knife against the doctor's throat, he leaned in close, his voice dripping with menace. "Tell me everything about that Cathayan woman's condition. Leave nothing out, or your entire family will pay the price!"

"She's expecting a baby," the doctor replied succinctly.

"A baby?" Aiden chuckled.

It seemed this child had come at precisely the right moment.
