The last two words of the text hit like a sharp sting, and both Taylor and Abigail froze, their minds racing in shock.

They both immediately understood what Aiden meant—Lucy was pregnant.

A deafening ringing filled Taylor's ears, and he felt as though the world was closing in around him. With this child, he knew Abigail would never forgive him.

Time seemed to stretch on endlessly, but eventually, Abigail let out a deep sigh. "We need to save her, now."

Taylor's mind was clouded, his thoughts drifting as if he were lost in a fog. He numbly followed Abigail, each step felt like lead.

Abigail drove recklessly, her foot heavy on the accelerator. However, due to the remote location of the address, it still took over 40 minutes to get close.

At the final intersection, she pulled over to the side of the road.

"Let's split up. You distract them, and I'll rescue her," Abigail said, unbuckling her seatbelt and stepping out of the car.

Taylor followed the plan, driving the car into a dilapidated factory complex.

After getting out of the car, he quickly scanned the seven-story building before heading toward the nearest staircase. Just as he approached, he collided with Hugo, who was also rushing toward the place.

Their eyes met briefly, silently confirming they were both here for the same reason. Without exchanging a word, they quickened their pace, charging up the stairs toward the fifth floor.

As they reached the final step, Hugo caught sight of Lucy in the distance—her hands bound, dangling precariously between two floors.

The building had most likely been used to house heavy machinery in the past. From the top floor down to the ground, each level had a large hole in the center, over three meters in diameter.

If the rope holding Lucy gave way, she would plummet from the sixth floor to the concrete below—a fall that would almost certainly be deadly.

Hugo reached out desperately, attempting to pull her toward him. However, the distance was too vast, and she remained beyond his grasp.

Hugo's heart tightened as he watched Lucy struggle. Without hesitation, he grabbed the items and glared up at Aiden. "I've got them. What now?"

"That's your sister's medical report," Aiden said, his voice thick with implication. "Don't you want to know what's wrong with her?"

"What's there to know? My sister spends half her time doing yoga or working out at the gym. She's way healthier than I am! What kind of illness could she possibly have?

Hugo let out an annoyed sigh and flipped to the last page. In a loud voice, he read the results aloud, "Pregnancy test: Positive."

Taylor's heart plummeted, and his face darkened even more.
