"It's all Aiden's fault. He's completely lost any shred of humanity. If Taylor ends up with lasting damage, I'll tear his arms off the next time I see him. Let's see how much trouble he causes then!"
Abigail had already allowed Aiden to slip through her fingers twice, but she was determined not to make that mistake again.
As Kingsley watched her worry over Taylor, a bitter smile curled at the corner of his lips.
"Here, wipe your face. It'll help you feel better," Serena said, handing him a warm towel.
Kingsley smiled as he took it. "You're right, I am feeling a bit worn out. You sure know how to take care of me."
Though his words were clearly directed at Serena, Abigail couldn't shake the feeling that there was an unspoken message meant for her. She tilted her head and gave him a questioning look.
Kingsley raised an eyebrow, seemingly oblivious to her gaze. Nudging Serena along, he said, "Mission accomplished. Let's head home."
Abigail lingered for a moment before trailing behind them.
…
The next day, Abigail slept in until late morning. After getting ready, she headed downstairs, only to hear a knock at the door.
With a cup of coffee in hand, she walked over and opened it, finding James standing on the steps.
"Good morning," Abigail greeted him. "You're here early."
James chuckled, clearly amused. It was already 11:00 am, was it really that early?
"Mr. Xander is awake. Would you like to go see him?" James asked.
"If he's awake, that's enough for me. I don't need to go," Abigail replied, unsure of how to face Taylor. It seemed easier to just avoid the situation entirely.
Though she didn't want to admit it, she had to give Kingsley credit—his medical skills were impressive.
"What a beautiful lady."
"What are you doing, Taylor?" Abigail took a step back, her tone stern as she warned, "Let go."
"I don't want to," Taylor said stubbornly, resting his head on her shoulder and refusing to move.
"If you don't let go, I'll make you," Abigail warned, raising one hand. Her expression turned steely as she deliberately tried to intimidate him. "I really will!"
At that moment, Abigail faked a swing, and Taylor quickly dodged to the side. With his head lowered and lips puckered, he looked utterly dejected.
Seeing this, Abigail's heart softened, and she lowered her hand. She then turned to Kingsley in the doorway and asked, "What's going on here?"
