Damian assumed Hugo and Lucy were Taylor's friends. He stood up quickly, letting go of Jocelyn.

"How thoughtful of you both. Please, come in."

With that, the siblings stepped inside. Lucy maintained her usual polite demeanor, while Hugo's face was marked with concern.

When she noticed Taylor's unusual expression, Lucy frowned. "What happened to him?"

Jocelyn let out a heavy sigh in response.

Damian followed with a deep sigh, saying, "A brain injury has caused him to regress to a childlike state. We don't know how long it will take for him to recover."

Lucy instinctively raised her hand to her lips, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief. A moment later, a flash of self-blame crossed her expression.

If it hadn't been for saving her, Taylor wouldn't have been injured, nor would he be in this condition now. She owed him a debt that could never be repaid, not in this lifetime.

Hugo, too, hadn't expected this outcome. His expression subtly shifted, a flicker of guilt crossing his features.

Damian's anger flared, his fist clenching tightly at his side. "If I find out who's responsible for this, I'll make them suffer in ways they can't even imagine!" he growled.

Hugo, however, had no intention of avoiding responsibility. Taking a step forward, he confessed, "I was one of the attackers. Every wound on him came from my spiked club."

"What did you just say?" Damian growled, grabbing Hugo by the collar. "You insolent bastard! How dare you leave him in this state and still have the nerve to show your face here? Do you really think my family is that easy to trifle with?"

Damian slowly retracted his fist, while Jocelyn stood up. Both of them turned their gaze to Abigail, waiting for her to confirm the truth behind Hugo's words.

With that, she turned and walked away, not sparing them another glance.

"Hey, miss, please don't leave me!" Taylor called for her.

"Come back here! After everything you've done, how dare you even think about chasing after her? Bring him back here and make sure he doesn't move!"
