When Helen returned to her room and locked the door, she found a first aid kit. She took some painkillers without any hesitation. Then, her pain finally felt like it dissipated slightly.

Helen didn't know why, but the gunshot wound this time was more painful than usual. It was too much for her to handle.

Helen lost track of the time while she was in the room. When someone knocked on the door, she instantly opened her eyes and asked, "Who is it?"

"It's me!" Chandler said.

Helen quickly got up and checked herself in the mirror. After making sure nothing was wrong, she finally opened the door. "Can I help you?" she asked while looking at Chandler, who was standing by the door.

Helen saw him holding a large bag. Chandler didn't say anything and walked into her bedroom.

Helen felt slightly nervous. Then, Chandler asked right away, "Is your arm hurt?"

Helen was surprised and wondered how he found out about it.

Before she could answer, Chandler continued, "These are all medications for wounds. There are also two boxes of painkillers. They should work well."

"How… How did you know?" Helen asked.

Chandler told the truth. "I saw blood on the bed. You're probably hurt badly. Let me help you tend to your wound."

"No, thanks," Helen instinctively blurted out like it was a reflex. Then, she realized she might've overreacted.

She quickly explained herself, "There's no need for that. It's just a small wound, and I've already tended it. It's no big deal."

Chandler clearly felt something was wrong with her, and it felt like she was trying to hide something.

"Give me your arm. Let me take a look," he insisted.

Just as she wanted to continue speaking, Chandler interrupted her. "There's no need for apologies. I didn't do enough to earn your full trust. However, can you promise not to hide anything from me in the future?"

Helen looked up and met his deep gaze. At that moment, he sounded sincere.

Helen didn't know what to do.

She had her secret, and she didn't know how to tell him about it.

"Chandler, I…" she began.

Before she could say anything else, a pair of warm lips approached her. Chandler used his action to stop her from saying everything on her mind.

Helen's mind went blank, but she instinctively looked at him and went with the flow.
