The news of Chandler's arrival took Lawson aback.

Rushing to the door, Lawson greeted him warmly. "Welcome, Mr. Chandler." He extended his hand to Chandler respectfully.

Chandler responded with a polite nod. "Mr. Smith, congratulations!"

"Thank you," Lawson replied. Then, he noticed Helen and greeted her. "Ms. Spencer, good to see you here."

Lawson couldn't hide his surprise when he noticed the couple walking arm in arm. Even with his years of experience in the business world, the sight left him visibly astonished.

"Mr. Chandler, this is..."

Chandler quickly wrapped his arm around Helen. "This is my fiancée, as you may have guessed."

The mention of Chandler's fiancée caused a stir among the attendees. There hadn't been any previous mention of his engagement. How had he suddenly gotten a fiancée?

However, Helen felt uneasy with all the attention on them and leaned in to whisper to Chandler, "I'll go check on the bride. I'll catch up with you later."

He nodded. "Don't be too long."

Letting go of his hand, she headed toward the lounge.

Melanie was already dressed in her wedding gown and was receiving the finishing touches of her makeup from a professional. A couple of bridesmaids were in the room to keep her company.

Melanie blushed and graciously accepted the envelope. "You're too kind. Thank you for your well wishes! Let's enjoy ourselves today."

After giving Melanie the envelope, Helen chatted amiably with her for a bit before leaving the dressing room. Once outside, she found herself surrounded by a group of women.

"Are you the one engaged to Chandler?" one of them asked in a hostile tone.

Helen nodded calmly and inquired, "Is there a problem?"

The girl, who appeared to be the group leader, sneered. "With your looks, he must be crazy to pick you."

Helen's expression hardened at the remark. Unaware of Helen's reaction, the leader continued, "I heard he had a fiancée, but I didn't believe it until I saw you. Seems like he's desperate for someone."

Helen's eyes narrowed, and she asked, "And who might you be?"
