With a slam, Helen closed the door behind her. She squatted down and hugged her knees as she cried loudly.

She didn't understand why she was so upset. Despite never feeling her parents' love since childhood, she had always felt content because of her grandparents' love.

She felt delighted to have grown up in such a loving atmosphere. But then she realized what she felt were all lies. She was just an adopted child and was no different from those in the orphanages.

At the thought of this, Helen got even sadder.

After what seemed like ages, a knock came from the door.

"Helen, what's wrong?" Sylvia's voice came from the other side of the door.

Upon hearing her voice, Helen's body stiffened, and she quickly wiped away her tears, took a deep breath, and replied, "I'm fine, Grandma."

Sylvia could hear the obvious quiver in her voice. She pushed the door open and turned on the lights. "What's the matter? Why are you crying?"

Helen looked at the kind Sylvia in front of her, took a few strides forward, and reached out to hug her. "Grandma…"

Sylvia was puzzled and hurriedly patted her back. She thought Helen had a nightmare. "It's okay! Did you have a nightmare?"

Helen didn't reply, and just held onto her tightly.

"It's alright, it's just a dream. Don't be afraid. Grandpa and I are here."

Unable to hold back her tears, Helen cried out and asked, "Grandma, will you and Grandpa always be by my side?"

Upon hearing her childish words, Sylvia smiled reassuringly. "Of course! You will always be our little girl, no matter how big you are. Grandpa and I will be here with you. Don't be afraid. Have a good night's sleep, and everything will be fine tomorrow."

Helen let go and wiped her tears away. "Will everything really be okay tomorrow?"

"Of course! Go to sleep now! I'll make your favorite pancakes with eggs tomorrow. I'll even add an extra sausage for you, okay?"

Helen chuckled and gestured with her hand. "I want two sausages."

Chandler's voice sounded slightly weary. "They've been found. My dad injured his right leg and has undergone surgery. He'll be returning to the country for recovery."

"Will they both come back?"

He hummed and said, "They'll be discharged in a couple of days. They'll return then."

"As long as they're okay. I'm home now and I plan to return tomorrow."

"Okay."

Helen bit her lip and continued, "Do you remember the words I said to you before Hannah's fan meeting?"

Chandler pondered for a moment and answered, "I do."

"Since you missed it due to Uncle and Aunt's situation, I'll tell you when you come back, okay?"
