Helen quickly explained, "I didn't want to accept his gifts. However, in that situation…"

She suddenly remembered Priscilla was Chandler's mother. No matter what, it wasn't wise for her to badmouth Priscilla in front of Chandler. So, she quickly changed what she wanted to say, "It's alright. Just leave them there for a few days, and I'll return them later."

Then, Chandler hugged her tight again. "I'm sorry, Helen. I don't think I can accept other men treating you well. So, I can only treat you better in the future."

Helen didn't say anything. There were some things that she didn't want to tell him. She didn't want to make him feel frustrated.

However, she could feel Priscilla was being hostile to her. She heard mother-in-laws could be hard to deal with, and it seemed to be true to her.

Helen figured she could avoid conflict if she avoided talking to Priscilla.

With that thought in mind, an idea popped up in Helen's head.

After exiting Helen's room, Chandler called Carles. "I need your help. Investigate what happened at Moore Mall today."

Carles didn't ask anything about it and said on the other end of the call, "Alright, Mr. Chandler."

Then, Chandler hung up and looked deeply at the door that was shut tight. Although Helen didn't say anything, he could tell she wasn't herself that day.

He wondered what he could do to lessen her burden.

The following few days, Helen spent her whole day helping out at the studio. She would leave early in the morning and come back late at night, avoiding Priscilla every day. The two of them didn't see each other, so there was no conflict.

However, Priscilla wasn't going to let her go that easily. One day, the housekeeper received an exquisite-looking invitation. "Madam Newton, it's an invitation from SK group."

Priscilla took the invitation and glanced at it.

"Leave it there! I'll make arrangements for it."

"Yes, Madam." Harper was about to leave when Priscilla suddenly called her.

Then, she moved on to Chandler's relationship with Helen. "As for her relationship with Mr. Chandler, we can't say much about it as bystanders. However, I believe he likes her because she is excellent in her own way. Besides, they're a match for each other. I think they'll have a happy marriage."

"That's enough…" Before Harper could say anything else, Priscilla interrupted her right away.

"Marriage? Who is she to get married into the Newton family? Isn't that ridiculous?" Priscilla scoffed, disdain evident in her tone.

When Harper heard that, she knew Priscilla was looking down on Helen's background. To a wealthy family, they only prefer those who come from the same social class.

Harper thought Esmond was more open-minded for not being so traditional.

"Harper, tell me honestly. After all this time she has been living here, did she do anything… out of line with Chandler?"

Upon hearing that, Harper quickly said, "You're worrying too much, Madam Newton. Ms. Helen and Mr. Chandler hadn't done anything like that yet. I can vouch for Ms. Helen on this."

Priscilla let out a sigh of relief. As long as it hadn't come to that, she could still turn the tables around.
